PSS...dont pay $300 for a new aluminum prop. The one you have should be no more than $100. Now if you go stainless, then your talkin $500 or so. Let me know, I can tell you what normal retail is on any Merc prop you want

05...can you get that much air? God that looks like so much fun

I'll probably go SS... Just because there is often debris floating around some of these lakes around here... :shakeshead: If I knew what size & pitch that I wanted to go with. Then I can get a refurbished SS from one of the machine shops down at the lake from between $100-$150 or so. But I'd like to try several and find one that fits my use and driving style. So I will probably buy from the Marina that has test props that I can try them first. Then buy a new one from them for letting me test first.
If only we could do that with our cars/trucks.

We have a 1997 Bayliner Capri SS 20' 5'' with a 5.7 alpha 1 and a 19p prop. That thing flies is all i have to say. Gets out of the hole in a hurry as well. Love the boat but my mom wants a bigger boat...something like a 24ft sea ray or crownline. We mainly use it for tubing/skiing/ or just cruising around the lake at Lake Okaboji in Iowa.

I dont have a picture of it around I will have to work on getting some with some chics in it just for Dzervit

Yea if not then I would probably buy 2 or three of the refurbished and try each one. Use the one I like and keep the others for spares or "special occasions" When I either want to cruise really fast or if I need to pull alot of weight for heavy skiers etc.

Let me ask you these... It is a 76 (28 years old) unknown hours. Pretty sure that it's the orginal motor. The tach reads 6K it will rev that in neutral. But going across the water it wont get past 4100 (IF) I am the only one in the boat. "3800-3900" fully loaded to Max Capicity. Is that chewed up prop creating to much drag? As bad as it is.. it rarely captivates, "only if I blow out in a corner". So should I start out with stock equevilant prop? With that prop even as it is now. Then I can't hammer it from a dead stop... It will blow its self out of the water. Is this because it's chewed up or simply because it needs less launch and more top end?

Edited to add:
I'd like to get the top RPMs closer to 5K fully loaded. Which way do I need to go to achieve that. I know I'll have to sacrafice the hole shot but I have it to spare.

Isn't that the truth!!! As tore up and nasty looking as the interior is. Women find out that we bought it and get excited. They tell me that I have to take them to the lake this summer. Even after they have seen the nasty thing. Most just want to tube. But thats OK with me! Strip down to your bathing suit and jump on baby!

I got an old 16' or 18' foot (can't remember) Monarch V-hull aluminum john boat. It's got a 25 hp Johnson on it. Min-Kota trolling motor with a metal prop. Live well under the back seat. It's the kind with a steering wheel, not the handle. It's been sitting for about 2 or 3 years so it problably needs new carpet and seats. I'm gonna fix it up and buy a new trailer for it (trailer is not safe), when I start my new job.

Thanks. I'll keep you in mind bro. I made a typo in that last post. That's a 35 hp johnson. It's been a long time since I've been on the water. I might not need the whole trailer. I know I'll need the rear tail light/support beams that holds the rear of the boat. The hitch is good. The trailer is just rusty as hell is all. We'll see what we're getting into later about in June.

I go to the bank Thursday afternoon and head over to pick up my new boat on Friday morning. I'm stoked!!!

It is a 20' SeaArk Predator. It is 6 foot wide, and has a 175 horse merc inboard. It is tunnelled out with a jet unit, and is made for extreme shallow water. I'll be able to run over beaver dams, logs in the rivers and short runs on gravel bars. Some of the rivers we run get snaked out and thin, about 1-2" deep in spots, and this boat is made for it. I bought one of the last two 2004's they had on a clearout special to make room for the '05's, which run about 3 grand more than the '04's. No changes except more expensive materials and shipping fees.

I'm dying to get into it and take it for a spin!

This is sort of what it looks like, but mine will have a removable canopy. (not sure if picture is working.)

Here's my little fishin' boat:

Princecraft 162 DLX 16' with 50hp Johnson Carb'd 2 Stroke

I'd like to have something a little larger, but it suits my needs just fine so I need to be happy with it for a few more years. Next one will basically be the same boat, but a little longer and wider...

Here's what I want in a few years (another Princecraft; you Canadian boys sure do build a fine boat ):
Probably with a 115 Mercury Optimax...

vegastrac...

Vegastrac--is this what you're trying to post?

Never heard of them before, but interesting design to keep in mind. I've also been looking at Riverpro, they make similar (but smaller) jet boats; my Susquehanna River is very shallow and rocky, jets get a lot of interest here...

G3 Will be interducing a new Mod V, prop. boat soon. That only needs 10" of water to take off and will run in 2.5". It will make an awesome river/lake boat.
