Go demand one. That's what I did a year and a half ago. Got a nice fat raise. I'm going to do it again in a couple months. I'm the sole IT person here and I have specialized skills so they dont have much choice.

It's a never ending vicious cycle. Just when you think you may be ahead or at least breaking even, the ***** hits the fan again.
