BYE for Now
Traded the F150 Yesterday. It was a great truck but it was just time to go.
Fuel was killing me. LOL bought a 2005 Nissan Frontier with the 4 cyl. Should get 25 or better on the highway.
Especially after I convert it over to Amsoil.
If anyone is looking for a great truck, my 97 is super clean, interior, exterior, and engine. I left the by-pass filter on it too. (hey might get a new customer from it. LOL)
Anyhow it was a great ride and I'll miss coming to this board.

Oh I know, but it's hard to contribute when you don't own one.
I'm sure I'll lurk occasionally and give feedback on my experience.
Which is 100% positive with my ownership. I had very little problems with my truck.
The 5speed trans was rebuilt at around 20,000 miles.
And I had the power window motor replaced on the drivers side.
That's it. At 70,000 miles I had
Original Battery
Original Brakes
Original Belts
Original Hoses
Original Plugs
and the originial Tires (they weren't even down to the wear bars yet. I am totally amazed with those goodyears. The suck in the wet, but last a long time and work okay in the snow)
The truck was a 4x4 with offroad package. I special ordered it in 1996 through the military overseas program. So it was actually a 96 1/2 F150.
I had Captians Chairs, the 4.6L and the 5spd. I bet there are not many like that.
With the 4x4 and 4.6 I would still average about 15-16 mpg mixed driving.
On the highway I could get high 17's if I drove 65-70 mph.
I would recommend it to anyone.

With all the above stuff, I was looking at spending at least $1200 within the next year, and combine that with the price of gas it just made sense for me to trade.
I usually buy new at least every 5-10 years. This truck was 8 years old and was in great shape, but I'm not a big fan of sinking tons of money into a used truck when I can get a new one with a warranty.
I can only hope that I will be as happy with the Nissan.
BTW I was looking at the Chevy Colorado, they were practically giving them away but just couldn't do it.
Chevy
No way.

I'm BACK......
It only took 3 1/2 years.
Just purchased an 08 Screw XLT. I'm glad to be back in a "big truck" again. That Nissan was painful especially when trying to bring more than one other person.
The Screw should be comfortable for 5 and even have room for 6 with the split bench in the front.

Aww damn I was gettin ready to congratulate someone on buying the best mid-size truck on the road
. I can't blame you for wanting to get out of the 4cyl though. I wouldn't want that either
.

No worries. I have every intention of turning my truck in in 33 months for a 2011 XLT Scab with the 6.2 in black
