Thumbs up How hot is the new Mustang?

From this Week's Automotive News:
How hot is the new Mustang? So hot that even the car's chief engineer can't get one easily. Ford Motor Co. employees get big discounts on company vehicles. And they usually don't have any problem getting anything they want. But even some of Ford's highest-ranking managers are waiting for the redesigned pony car. Hau Thai-Tang, the chief engineer of the new Mustang, said during a panel discussion last week at the SAE World Congress in Detroit that he still hadn't received his Mustang GT and didn't know when it would arrive. Ford has a long list of orders for the Mustang GT and is selling all it can build at full retail price - meaning that even company insiders have to get in line behind consumers. Since the company recently cut its earnings estimate for 2005, that full-sticker revenue is particularly welcome.

Yes- I was told by my partner that works at eh dealership that they were instructed to tell peopel that come up to order them, that they should not expect delivery until late 2005, early 2006.

Unbefreakinglievabel...

Surely, Ford can build V-8 stangs faster than that!

They're selling them $500 below sticker in Illinois. I don't know about the convertible, but a guy a few houses down just bought one home. He said he didn't pay over sticker, but he wouldn't say how much he paid.

When My truck is paid off, I'll probably be driving one.

There was a whole line of them at Joe Machen's Ford in Columbia, Missouri. That is definately the hottest car on the road. I have two trucks now but no use for a car. That Mustang makes me want to find a use for a sports car.

GT 'verts are way backed up.

My uncle ordered a vert GT before christmas and it was suppost to be here by now. Dealer called last month and told him ford said june, then augest. Now they told him he might actually get one of the first 2006 GT verts to roll off the line.

Thats a damn long wait. But as my aunt said "He lived the first 45 years of his life without it, one more won't kill him"

GT's are pretty quick for the money. Add a shifter, exhaust, gears and they can be in the high 13's with not much money.

From what I've read, the reason, besides the demand, is the 4.6 Ford is putting in the Mustangs are also going into the F150's. The profit margin is higher on the F150's so Ford is splitting the difference the best they can.

It's definitely on my to do list to get one someday.

I would bet good money that any dealership that has more than 2 Stangs sitting on its lot were V6's. The V8s are gone before they hit the lot (as in preordered), the V6's are another story. We ordered our GT in early January & just got it last week. Our salesguy (who we've know & used for years) told us that anyone who ordered a GT after February would be getting an 06 model. The 05s are all spoken for already.

Thumbs up

They're hotter than GA asphalt, to coin a movie term, hehe. My wife actually asked me if I wanted one more than an 04-05 F-150. My reply was a confused look, followed by a Hell Yes!! Mine would be green with black deck stripes, GT of course.,,,,98

Would look something like this, hehe. 67 GT-500

black not white stripes, though.

67 500
