Canon Digital Cameras
I'm looking to replace my Sony P-8 (which is a nice camera minus the fact that my wife hates it -- which, in turn, makes me dislike it as well because I'm always fielding her gripes on how to use it).
I'm looking at the Canon A95 (5.0 MP)... Which is what the wife wants...
Anyone have any experience with this camera or Canon cameras in general? I've researched several sites and, thus far, it looks to be very solid.

I had the A70 and it ended up on Ebay. It was a 3.2 MP. It took good pictures and had lots of features, but it was a little too bulky and heavy due to the 4 AA batteries. I got tired of replacing the batteries. It was nice being able to just pop four in when they were run down.
I ended up going with a Canon Elph 4 MP. I love this camera. It's small enough to carry in my pocket. My Dad bought the 5 MP and it takes great pictures.
I don't think it has all the modes that the A70, but I didn't use them anyway.
Hope this helps.

Canons are my favorite digital cameras. Nikon has some good ones too.
In any case, we have a PowerShot G2 (4.0MP) that was a good camera, but it's an older camera so it was still pretty big, all things considered. It had plenty of shooting modes and options, so it was good in that respect.
Parents bought my sister an A80, (3.2MP I think), and it was a nice basic little camera. It had some options all things considered, but it used AA batteries so it was somewhat of a pain because you had to constantly replace them, and it only took Compact Flash Type I cards, which limits the amount of pictures you can store on one memory card (I think 512MB was the biggest CF-I I ever saw).
Anyway, check out http://www.dpreview.com , its a GREAT site for reviewing digital cameras. Has all the info you would ever need on just about all the cameras out there, and good reviews on the bigger ones.
For instance, here's the review on the A95: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canona95/
Edit: Id recommend that if you do buy the A95, buy at least one set of rechargeable batteries (rather than using typical AA's), and get a bigger CF card than the included 32MB one, that is if you dont already have a bigger one.

I have the Canon Powershot 410 (Elph type).
It's a great camera with 4 Mpxl. A lot nice features, small, the size of a pack of cigs. It uses rechargeable L-ion batteries also a great feature getting away from AA batteries. They use compact flash memory.
Costco sells them online with an accessory kit included which has an extra battery. You really only need 1 extra battery because you can't shoot pics fast enough to wear the battery before the other is charged. I know 'cause I tried it.
Good luck with whatever you get. I recommend the Canon.

Thanks for all the help guys. I just purchased the Canon A95 (5.0 MP) online. It should be here later this week.
Look for a used Sony P-8 (3.2 MP) on ebay in the coming days. LOL!

I put down my FUJI Finepix S3000 for my new Canon Powershot G6 just last week. The G6 is just amazing in its features and its high-quality 'feel' and appearance. The S3000 has taken many great pics for me but this G6 gives me the ability to 'see'(2" LCD monitor that can be turned to face me) the pic before I take it with the supplied remote
. I take self-pics of me and the Bass I catch before releasing them so that capability 'sold' me(and I love gadgets).
I know you already order one but I just wanted to 'stick up' for Canon

thank god you didn't get talked into a non-canon digital product before I got here; I never would have forgiven myself...
Now all you need is a CP dye sublimation printer....
My paying jobs get true c-41 prints, but if the little woman wants some pics of the dogs or something, dye sub. is the only non-chemical print I can stand to look at.

I have the A75 and love it. CF is cheap/MB. There are 2GB Type 1 cards now, maybe larger. I love that it uses AA's as rechargable AA's are cheap and last a long time. Movie mode is much better than I expected.
A95 is similar, with more MP.
