If it does 211K, I'll be thrilled!!!
The Norfolk plant turns out about 800 trucks per day.
I don't know how long it would take a new plant to get up to that.

I would bet it wasn't built on the first day, maybe not even the first week.

Thanks for the replys all. I checked my number and it is A14825. I bought this truck from the orig owner and it still runs great. I drove it up to Auto Fair in Charlotte From Atlanta (450 miles round trip) and will be going back with my trailer this weekend, I hope, to pick up a car I made an offer on.

Update on my 97 F150 - I bought a new 05 Sept of last year and now have 30,000 on the new one. I still have my 97 and it is still running strong but now has 229,000 on it and to be honest, I think it is a better truck than my 05. It doesn't tow nearly as well but it sure still drives great.

A51688, I think it was one of the first few 4x4's off the line... It was the first one I saw around when it was originally bought. I wish they would have offered a 5.4 back then... 170,000 miles and running strong....

As I understand it when I was in Chile in 1998, the 97 cab style was being sold in Chile in 1995.

VIN sequence numbering

My 10th generation F150 truck has a manufacture date of, 01/96. It's particular sequence numbering is:
A04868
, thus showing / proving the sequence started out as A00001, A00002, A00003, etc.

For trucks it should be a letter and 5 numbers.

The first truck built at each truck plant would be A00001
After truck A99999 was built the next one would be B00001
and so on.

11th position of the VIN is the Plant (N=Norfolk)
If the 12th position is an 'A' you have an early model year truck.
I can't say for sure wether the numbering started with :
A00001 or it was A10001.

Documentation isn't clear on this point.
