When was the first 97 f150 built?

I have a 97 f150 with 211,000 miles and still going strong. I noticed while changing the oil yesterday that my Windsor engine had a mfg date of 1/96. I then checked the door jamb sticker and it also said 1/96 for a build date. I am assuming it had to be one of the first built but how do I find out where it stands in the actual order?

Check the last six positions of your VIN it is the sequence number.
For trucks it should be a letter and 5 numbers.

The first truck built at each truck plant would be A00001
After truck A99999 was built the next one would be B00001
and so on.

11th position of the VIN is the Plant (N=Norfolk)
If the 12th position is an 'A' you have an early model year truck.
I can't say for sure wether the numbering started with :
A00001 or it was A10001.

Documentation isn't clear on this point.

That reminds me, I need to check my VIN. My first two eff one fiddy's were hecho en Norfolk, the latest one was run out of Kansas. My guess is some squid bought it and ended up getting stationed here.

It was probably built in in late 96 and was most likely built in Oakville, Ont and the engine plant is in Windsor, Ont. The Oakville plant builds a ton of F-150's there. Untill the new design came out. That's where my 1997 F-150 was made when I ordered mine. Reg cab flareside 4X4 black. I loved that truck!

The first '97s were built in late '95. I believe in November.

I've got one(XLT) too so I'm going to check its VIN. I never thought about them being built so early. Mine has been trouble-free for 126,000 miles and I bought it 'used' in 1999.

Correction to my post above:
The first truck off the line is A00001
The 100,000 truck off the line is B00000

The new model 1997 F150 was introduced in January 1996 but snags kept the deliveries from starting until April 1996.

Wow! So A00801 means mine was the 801st truck built at Dearborn's new truck plant. (It's an 04)

If it does 211K, I'll be thrilled!!!
