WOW

We DO have a bunch of gun enthusiast on this site.

After all the searching yesterday, and talking to my finance manager (aka wife), I think I am gonna try out the Sig P220. I looked at a P220 stainless on one site and it was about $1600.00

I'll fire off a few rounds of the P220 and see how it feels.

You will love the P220 Jamz. Did a lot of research on mine and its rated one of the most accurate 45's out there. I even bought the Glock laser sight/flashlight that goes on the under barrel rail mount. Now you talk about cool!

XD 40

I picked up a Springfield XD 40 4" model in the OD & Black scheme.

Feels like a Glock, but has several safty features I like. Grip Safety, has a flap that lets you know when there is a round in the chamber, and also has a visible firing pin.

Any thoughts?
Mossberg 500 or 590, pump action, 12 gauge with pistol grip/folding stock/foregrip/laser site with standard 7+1 or 8+1 non-detachable tube magazines or with adapter kit for multiple 10+1 round detachable drum magazines or detachable 6+1 round magazines
(you should be familar with it already)

or if you can/wish to go "Class III"

USAS-12, select fire, 12 gauge with laser site with 10+1 detachable magazines or 20+1 detachable drum magazines. (you were trained with a similar configuration)

.......my family's safety? I would go for a drum magazine full of 12 gauge.

I Love any kind of shot gun. 12 or 20 gauge.

I have a 20 gauge that is older then dirt (break barrel) that I keep with my dad. I have moved around alot in my life and I am glad that I have kept it in his hands. I still have it that way. He keeps it clean and rust free. I take it out and look it over and sometimes shoot off a few shells. I wouldnt want to shoot down the hall of my home with a shot gun (or desert eagle for that matter), but I bet it would be cool as hell to do.

12 ga. Pump Action 9-shot capacity, parkerized finish, bead sight, 20" cylinder bore barrel with heat shield and Speed-Feed stock.
MSRP $525

I like this 12 Gauge

Hey jamzwayne, You could get a new in box sig P220R stainless with 2-3 magazines and nightsites for about 750 out the door. I don't believe anyone has mentioned nightsites and that is important for a home defense gun. They glow in the dark making it easier to line up with the target. Also with the picatanny rail, i'd highly reccomend a tactical light. You cant shoot what you cant see. My personal home defense gun is a springfield xd9 with night sites and the XML tactical light. Perfect for just that. But you can do the same setup with the sig 220. My sig 229 is my most accurite gun I own.

You will LOVE the sig. When you shoot it, you'll wonder why you ever shot anything else. Some of the military branched have ordered 5-10k units of the 226 in .40 to test to possibly make the new sidearm.

Oh, I forgot to mention to check out Sigforum.com. Bunch of stand up guys and you can learn everything and then some about sigs. That forum reminds me of this one as far as the posters go.

12ga is my personal fav, that is what I use to quail, dove, and one to turkey hunt with. I also have a Mosberg 500A pump w/ pistol grip, mag light, side saddle, extended tube 12ga. My oldest daughter uses a 16ga and my youngest a 4-10. I do have an old antique 20 ga damascus barrel that I won't part with, but I barely ever shoot it. I wouldn't be worried about shooting the 12ga's in the house to defend it with #6 shot. Just Point in the general direction and pull the trigger untill the opponet stops moving.

Cool

Look for Indoor Shooting Ranges that rent guns. If the shop is not attached to an indoor range, they are unlikely to let you try anything. However, I also live in the PRC (People's Republic of CA). Maybe some states are more forgiving...
Look at CZ Handguns as well as the Rugers. Good price and good quality. The CZ-75 in 9mm is as much fun to shoot as a .22 with a lot more punch. It also comes in .40 S&W.
Some of our indoor ranges will let you rent several guns for 1 price, as long as you only have 1 at a time. You also have to buy their 'Range ammo'.
Pick out 5 models that interest you. Preferably in the same caliber. Put a dozen rounds through each one. Than pick out your favorite and shoot 50 more. See if you still love it.
www.gunbroker.com is a great place to look. I have bought 3 guns through that site. All were good experiences.
Good luck.

Was it an autographed version of the one DeNiro had in the latter part of Ronin??? That's outrageous. No more than $7-800 can buy a P220.

Get out to somewhere that'll let you try before you buy...
