Does anyone know how to tell if a truck is a 97 or 98? I bought a truck that the dealer said was a 98, but the manual in the glove box has a print date of Oct 97, and I thought 98s had 4 doors, this only has 3... any advice?

Its not uncommon for trucks to go for sale on the year previous to their "model year"

So a '98 F150 can go for sale in '97.
My truck is a '97 that was manufactured in '96.

I *think* the 4-door was only an option in '98.

 

The fourth door started in 99.

 

October build dates start the next year model - my 98 f150 3 door s/c was built in November of 97 - all auto manufacturers do this, in fact I think they have to.
