Does anyone know how to tell if a truck is a 97 or 98? I bought a truck that the dealer said was a 98, but the manual in the glove box has a print date of Oct 97, and I thought 98s had 4 doors, this only has 3... any advice?

 

The four door didn't come out till '99. And the manual was prolly written in '97, cuz the 98's came out in fall of '97.

I think all '97's had the exhaust exit in front of rear tire( most were recalled and changed though)

And some 97's had a strap on the flip center console/armrest, instead of the buttom, to flip it up or down. or just look at the sticker on door jamb or the ownership, it should have the year on it.

 

10th character in the VIN is the model year.

1997=v
1998=w

 

That was recalled? For what?

 

The exhaust would prematurely discolor the right rear wheel.

 

Ah, I kind of figured, but didnt think they would recall it for that.

Too bad mine never got it, and the wheel cover back there looks pretty bad.
