Gone in 60 Seconds...
I think this movie did as much for the Ford Mustang as did the song "Mustang Sally" and Steve McQueen (Bullitt).
But, Bullitt's ride was mo match for Eleanor-

Ahhh, Eleanor. Those are some good websites, I jotted 'em down for later. I plan on picking up a 67 fastback a few years down the road and going through CVS to get an Eleanor kit. Gotta do this before I die, which by the "death clock" means I have until Tuesday, January 29, 2047.

The Mustang was one of the biggest successes in automotive history long long before the most recent version of Gone in 60 seconds. The movie did little or nothing for the Mustang. On the otherhand, the Mustang did everything for the movie.
Ford was selling about 500,000 Mustangs per year between 1964 and '68 when Bullitt was made. So the Mustang was already a runaway best seller by the time McQueen was filmed getting air in San Francisco.
?
Who can argue with that? From the time in 1964 when the Falcon and the Farilane went in for their conjugal visit, and the doctor slapped the baby on the butt, and named it Mustang, it's been a hit. Not arguing with that.
I'm just saying movies like those simply put icing on the cake...
They certainly don't hurt..
But, just so you'll know- Ford sells about 11 V-6's for every V-8 they sell. Most of the Stangs you see, aren't really what the Mustang is known for...

I'll have to remember that. I wonder who got the 11 V6's when I got my beauty...
Never understood buying a V6 Mustang.
If you like the look ok but if you don't have the muscle under the hood you just look silly when the real beast pulls up next to you.
