Learning how to play Guitar

Alright guys, help me out. I have an acoustic guitar and would love to really learn how to play. Any suggestions on some dvd's or videos I could get to teach me how to play? I cant just read a book and learn, I've tried a few times and just cant seem to do it. A while back a friend of mine got a video set on how to play electric guitar. After about 2 months he was really pretty good at it. So hook me up with some info and any other help or hints you can provide. I love the sound of the guitar, i need to learn how to play bad....

Sell the guitar & go buy an iPod. Download your favorite riffs and enjoy anytime without the effort of all that 'learning' crap. That's the only advice I have to give.

I've been "trying" to learn for quite some time now. My biggest problem is usually time... I wouldn't say I suck, but I'm by no stretch a good player...

I got a computer program awhile back that I really like however. It has both a book, and the CD (both CD-ROM, and CD Audio). It also comes with a phono adapter, so you can plug your guitar into your computer and play along, tune or use effects. I've tried a few other books, but found the best thing is look around find a book you like, and then go take lessons from someone. Most stores that sell guitars offer classes. You don't have to stay with the lessons for a long time, just get what you really need to know...

Other than that practice is the only thing that's going to help. Build some calluses, and get used to your guitar...

BTW, what guitar ya got? I think there's some pix of some of mine in my gallery...

borrow your buddys tapes and take some lessons. A good teacher will tell you soon enough if you've got what it takes...

I would love to learn guitar! I took piano lessons when I was a kid but quit because I didn't like the teacher. Boy I wish I hadn't. I can play Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and Mary Had a Little Lamb!! Good luck!!
