I'm late again as usual...

Just got in to work this morning and saw that link that MJC just posted...can't really say a Honda truck would be a bad thing, if I was in the market for a small pickup, I think I'd buy one of those before a Chevy/GMC Canyon or whatever they call those things now. But an estimated pricing of $27,000-32,000? That's kinda stiff for a compact truck. Yes, I know the article says it's "Honda's entry into the half ton market," but when I think half ton truck, I at least want a V8.

Yeah, Honda has always been (seemingly) anti-V8.

They don't even offer a V-8 in the NSX or the new RL.

But; they have managed to wrangle as much HP out of a 3.5 liter V-6 as most V-8's- sans teh low-end (or peak torque.

Seems like it's gonna be a sweet truck though.. Locking and water-tight trunk in the tail gate. So, it's a truck that has the cargo security of a car. I think it'll have at least 240 HP (Like the V-6 Accord).

That's as much (Actually more) HP than teh 4.6L V-8 in the F-150.

Saw it at the Detriot Auto show. It is larger than a compact but not as big as an f150.
Typical Honda styling on the inside. Not to crazy about the looks of the outside.
As far as the lockable trunk in the box, it would be ok for light things, but things such as a cooler as Honda says would be a back breaker to lift that far over and into it.
They had a 20-22 ? foot boat hooked to one at the show and she was squattin pretty good.
Sure for the folks that love their Hondas, they will like it.
Me, I will stick to my F150.

Sled...

Isn't the engine in the Canyon/Colorado made in China? Is the Honda going to be made in Japan or the US?

Honda will probally sell a ton of those. They are very practical, and probally will be much more efficient than a full size. It will be a strong competitor to the sport trac. The looks don't do much for me, but most people who buy a honda are too concerned with flashy looks.

Hondalanche!

I second the Avalanche lookalike idea. That's exactly what I thought when I first looked at the pictures. It's a Hondalanche! Ha Ha Ha!

Your probably right Hunter simply because of Honda's reputation for reliability...but I just can't see this thing hanging with the big boys in a half ton catagory.

I got a brochure from Honda in the mail on it the other day.

I definitely think they are targeting people that need a (very) light truck.

Its got a composite bed which is structurally attached to the cab.

If its typical Honda, it will be of very high quality.

Not sure I could get used to the look, but then I think the Avalanche is only slightly better looking than a Titan.

There is just something weird about saying Honda and truck in the same sentence.

It's not a pick-up. A pick-up has a bed seperate from the cab. It's a joke.

Another thing I find funny is all of the Ford advertisements surrounding the Honda article. Whooo's the boss?...
