We've gotten three Dell's in the house in the past year, I'm very happy so far. One thing though, they never arrive like they say. I just unleash my wife on them and they gave us additional discounts....

I didnt spring with any software because I'm sure I have the CD's for office small biz edition around here that came with my current desktop, or maybe my laptop, so I figured I could just use that instead of buying it again.
I think the only thing it came with as far as office related type software is Money 2004 and Acrobat Reader 6.0. I ordered Microsoft Office Basic because I wanted Word and Excel. Of course it came with all the advertising software and internet offers. It also had a trial version of Paint Shop Pro, which I uninstalled (I use Adobe Photodeluxe). I ordered mine with XP Pro also, was told by several people it was better than the Home edition.
What happened with yours JD? Mine arrived fine and on time too. Only thing I've had to really deal with is getting some money back because I didn't realize I could get a military discount from Dell when I ordered, they gave me 7% back when I called and mentioned it. And I had an issue with the DVD writer that has been resolved. Good luck with yours Habibi!!
