Serious non Lightning question.

Not looking for flames please. No I dont have a Lightning, but I am seriously looking into SC'ing my 2003 reg cab flareside 5.4 . It is a STX model. Anyone know of any place local to Tampa where I can get hooked up?

Thanks.

No flaming and you probably know this but there are a lot of things that make the Lightnings, Lightnings besides the s/c'r. Not saying not to do it but there are transmission, structual, brakes, suspension, etc. issues to consider, especially because of the increased power and torque you should get.

Definitely going to have to beef up the brakes and transmission. Brakes to stop you and transmission because if you leave the stock one in you will be replacing it often. The stock transmission in a Lightning is beefed up and basically has the internals for a 250 superduty F150 and it is still operating at 90% capacity so even when someone with a Lightning thinks about modding for anything over, I believe, 450hp they have to think about a built transmission…

It has been kicked around many times and the general conclusion has always been it’s cheaper to buy a Lightning then to try and build one out of a standard F150. It’s not simply installing a supercharger but many things. Another thing to note is you will need another computer since the standard computer in the F150’s will not accommodate what’s needed for a supercharger…

Just a few things to think about…

The F150 7700 model (or F250 LD) would be a better choice since it has the bigger transmission shared by the Lightning and bigger trucks. The brakes are off the F250 HD as well.

The thing is I didnt want a lightning. They dont look right in my opinion. I would rather build my truck to the way I want it than buy a lightning just to completely change it. I know I need to change alot of internals to the motor, and change transmission out...amoung other things...I just wanted to see if anyone knew of somewhere local I could get professional help.

Check out the supercharger forum, all your needs will be answered there.

This site's got lots of supporting vendor to help you out with adding a blower to your truck.

I love mine, wish I had gotten it a lot sooner...
