Need Vietnam soundtrack help...
I've got a job I'm working on, making a video slide show of about 500-700 vietnam war photos. I'm looking for suggestions for songs to use for backround music. Obviously, I'm not looking for 'anti-war' bullcr@p. Looking for things such as Johny Cash-'drive on', etc. Thanks in advance!
The sound track to 'We were soldiers...' is pretty decent.
Buffalo Springfield always gives me chills...
I'm a big country fan so Toby Keith's American soldier & red, white, & blue are great, used them for a powerpoint/slide presentation of my recent sandy oasis trip.

A suggestion...go to your local Best Buy's or
Circuit City and the music section...they should have
a music Cd search computer....search for the word "Vietnam"
...you should should find a number of fine Cd's and songs
from that era...I think that a number of Vietnam type movies
(ie Apococlypse Now etc.) movies had sound tracks that reflected that classic rock music...check out hxxp://www.rjsmith.com/vietnam-era-music.html
or do a google search....for "vietnam era rock music"(don't use the quotes when you search).

"House of the Rising Sun"...that is a classic!
All that wonderful music was also part of the muscle car era too (had my share of them).
I miss the muscle cars but not Vietnam...Vets were treated horribly when they came back home and frankly, I have never forgiven people for that horrible treatment...mention the name "Jane Fonda" to any Nam vet and watch the expression on their face...that war is long since over in terms
of time but not in private dreams and reflections.

Hell, it's an awesome soundtrack any which way you go if you like the music from that period of time...
It's hard to beat "BREAK ON THROUGH TO THE OTHERSIDE..."

99 times out of 100, usually if you read a book and then watch the movie they made based on the book, the movie usually will suck compared to the book.
I watched Forest Gump, then read the book about a year later. That one was the exception....I thought the book sucked compared to the movie.
