Hacked
I am also having problems with adware popping up. I have Ad-aware SE and McAfee. I scan with both and McAfee come up clean and Ad-Aware finds stuff. I delete it but I keep getting the pop up.
I down loaded a free scan and it found 13 viruses but it costs to remove them.
I am trying to use http://housecall.trendmicro.com/hous...start_corp.asp but I get a message saying my setting prohibit running ActiveX controls.
I have bee trying to fix this since 5pm and have already throw my printer out the front door.
How to i change Active X controls so i can run the housecall fix

If you already have 13 viruses then your McAfee didn't help much. you are already way past the point of being able to fix it yourself. Kinda like trying to change the oil on a truck after the engine blows because you ran 80K miles without checking the oil. Find someone local where you can bring in your computer and let them clean it up for you. With 13 viruses, who knows how it will function and trying to suggest ideas for you to try is futile. After they clean it up, you need to learn how to surf so it doesn't happen again.
sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I'd rather tell you straight up than blow warm air up your skirt.

lees, what are you running XP, 98?
My sister's computer was corrupted last year also, pop ups just overtook everything. Like mentioned earlier in this thread, I used Ad Aware, Spy Bot and Hi Jack this to correct most. Another step I had to take was to go into the startup program, those spyware programs may catch and delete them by they may be reloading each time you startup.
Try clicking on the start button, chose run, type in msconfig and hit enter, then chose the startup tab. Look for unfamiliar programs, maybe something with coolweb search in it - if there, uncheck it.
Or, go to this link to look up what you do have checked to see if it's legit and needed or not...(if not, just unclick it to prevent it from reloading each time)
