To Hollywood, From Charlie Daniels
Did the Dixie Chick really write that? I never did like their music anyways. Still no radio stations will play their music, which has completely destroyed their careers. I guess thats why they switched to pop...
Funny you say that, when I started my truck this morning, what's on the radio but the Dixie Chicks. Tuff, the statement doesn't apply to everyone, just those that refuse to answer what makes it OK for Charlie to give his opinion, but not Sean Penn or who ever. The comment was about celebrities getting involved with politics, not political candidates. While I'm not a Dixie Chicks fan, that statement by them is 100% accurate, especially the last paragraph.
I must be nuts to jump in here but...
The letter from Charlie to the Hollywood bunch was posted on his website (he has a section called his soapbox, you'll have to check the archives for it http://www.charliedaniels.com/soapbox/soapbox.html). It is just his opinion, and usually I read Charlie ranting b/c I agree with some (but he is too far right for me) but its not anymore valid than Sean Penn's and Natalie Maine's opinions but it is usually just put up on his sight for whoever might care to read it. Sean Penn on the other hand can't do enough to get press and shove his opinion down anyone who will listen throats' (and lets not forget his ridiculous fact finding trip to Baghdad...). Natalie at least did it at her own concert but I always felt it was in bad taste b/c she wanted to get a good reaction from a European crowd by trashing the president in a time of war in a foreign land. I also wonder why she never bothered to tell everyone how ashamed she was of GWB while she was touring at home. Anyway, at least Charlie isn't in your face about his opinion, I'm sure that letter got copied off his site and started as a mass e-mail. I also respect Charlie for doing right by our troops whenever he can. He's a good man but it’s just an opinion and it doesn’t matter any more than mine or Natalie’s or even Sean's. I still do love the "Devil Went Down to Georgia", what a great song. The Dixie Chicks were always a bit whiny for me. They are back on the air here.

I do agree with you momalle about why is it ok for Charlie to voice his opinion, but in his defense he was not getting on TV saying "This guy is the worst man possible" or anything like that, like so many of the liberals in Hollywood do. As far as I know, he is not just sitting around bashing a bunch of people.

Good one Raoul…
I don’t think you would have done well in my company in bootcamp. I “think” our company commander (Navy) was from the right.
What made me come to this conclusion is when marching from one place to another he would only bark out ”Your right, your right, your right, your right right right” If I remember correctly we were one of the only companies hopping around from place to place on our right foot…
We also never made left turns, we would simply make three right turns and we would be in the “right” direction…
