Dad suffered stroke

My Father at the age of 50 suffered a massive stroke on Tuesday morning @ 1:00am. My DAD is a huge car motorcycle nut and could really use a few extra prayers right about now.
The stroke has affected his gross motor skills like speach and balance but fine motor skills are in tach. His memory is 99% there. He has forgotton he has a brother and that he smoked. He thinks that he quit a few years ago.
From what he decribes he feel like this..... The speach theropist says he should regain most if not ALL of his speach with heavy theropy. He took about 12 assited steps in a walker today due to being off balance. He wisperd to me that he could walk the whole hall but they would not let him..lol.
His last words tonight to me was that he needs to WORK REAL HARD...REAL HARD so he can leave the FU(KING hospital.

GOD BLESS,
Jason Coffman

Sorry to hear of your troubles Jason, hope your father is doing better. Hopefully they caught it soon enough so the damage isn't severe. My Grandmother had a stroke a few years ago, never smoked or drank, she was very frustrated with the loss of left side motor skill's.
Best wishes,
Bryan
Prayer sent.

They said it was on his left side but his shows no major loss of motor skills. The best way to put it is that he like a living peice of jello all over. I think he will pull through pretty good. He is strong as an Ox in mind and body. I'm hoping to have him back here in MD in 4-7 days from now. His stroke occured while in WV visiting his mom and dad, my grandparents.
He lives alone but I might try to get him to get a house with me and my family to share. My house now is to small for all his toys 1 truck, 2 cars, 1 velocity race boat and 2 harleys. His house is two far away from mine and my wifes jobs.
I'm thinking maybe a nice size rancher with a big garage like he has now. It will be a big familiy if we move in together.
Sorry for the rambiling....I cant sleep or think well right now.

Good luck to your dad! Some things won't be the same, but sounds like he is strong and determined and I'm sure he will recover as best as he can. I'll say a prayer to St. Anthony for him. I'm sure he's glad you're there to support him!

sorry to hear about the stroke. my mother inlaw had two bad strokes. our whole family was devistated. the doctors gave her small to no chance for a normal life. two years later she is doing great. she lives on her own and takes care of her self.

my family has never been around pepole that had a stroke, so when she had hers we felt like we lost her. and that is not the case at all.

good luck rick

Thoughts and Prayers here also Jason. The reality of a stroke can sometime overwhelm a person. If you need to talk feel free to PM. I have had similar experiences.. unfortunately.

Happy New Year!

Ryan

We are praying for your dad. It sounds like you are very close to your dad. I didn't know my dad that well as he died when I was 5. I am still angry and ask God why he left my life so soon.

With this being said Jason, get to know your dad even more now after his stroke.

Sorry about your dad. He is in my prayers.

It sounds like he is a strong and independent person which, I believe, is in his favor. Just make sure he listens to the doctors. They know what he needs to do to return to normal, which is what we all would like to see.

Be strong. The bad things will go away, leaving only the good.

Dave...
