Kirk or Picard?
When ST:TNG first came on, I could not STAND Capt. Picard. I couldn't wait for an "Accident" to claim Picard, and for Riker to take over as the rightful Captain....
When "Best of Both Worlds" came on, and Picard was captured by the Borg- I figured my dream had finally come true- but, ironically- they rescue'd Picard.
Then, something strange happened- I started liking Picard. I realized that ST:TNG was more like the REAL military that ST ever was. You don't find Captains "leading the way" like that- Captains in teh Navy (Starfleet) are equivalent to Colonels in the Army/Marines- they make policy- and they give orders- they don't carry out the missions themselves.
Picard's character developed into a much stronger, much more mature leader than Kirk ever was. If that was real, and I had a choice of being a a starship where Kirk was the Captain, or Picard- I'd be with Picard all the way.....
Make it so....
