I can't think of anyone who could replace him.

I don't think the Spice Girls were the same after Ginger left the band

Motley Crue went down the toilet when Vince bolted. Of course, you could argue they were already on their way out due to grunge, but nonetheless, Motely Crue simply wasn't Motley Crue without Vince....

Nirvana is another example, I don't think it would be possible to replace Kurt...

Then again, the Van Halen example is unique because they kept at it after Dave. It took a loooooong time for Sammy to be accepted, and not only do you still have a contingency that will hold up "DIAMOND DAVE" signs at concerts, but there is also a contingency who refuse to acknowledge Van Halen as "legitimate" after Dave left.

As for groups of "today", I don't know, honestly, most current groups suck anyway. Ever notice how many radio stations devote themselves to 80's?

Oh, here's one:

(or two, depending)

Gene Simmons or Paul Stanley of Kiss

Deciding upon which one would most certainly start a flame war in certain circles...

Yeah, I wasn't sure, figured I'd have a 50/50 chance What's sad is that I even read the book, which, incidentally, is probably one of the most amusing books I've ever read. One of those books that sucks you in and won't let go...

In case anyone cares....
