Nice one Medic

Got skunked this year in Penna. Even had a doe permit. Oh well, my yearly contribution to the Penna. State Game Comission.

Congrats to those of you that got deer. I had a very tough season. No snow and very few hunters for the first few days. I only saw about 15 deer all season and most of them were on a dead run away from me. I did fill my deer tag, it was a small doe that had already been wounded and wasn't going to make it, so I put her down.

pgh_medic, I was hunting in McKean county. Those are both nice deer you got. I was very suprised this year by how few deer I saw and very little sign as well. Oh well, I got to spend a week in the woods with my dad, it was a great time, even though we didnt do so good filling our tags.

MadMarty,
I hear ya man, although it looks like I cleaned house, it was def. a tough hunt! Opening day I didnt see a single deer, the doe i shot on tuesday was with 2 others, the buck I shot on sat. morning was with 3 doe and a button buck, other than that, I didnt see squat. IMHO i think it was the excessive, to say the least, rains we got this year, providing more than enough food for them. So, the deer can pretty much go wherever they want and find food. So, hunting the traditional food spots was difficult. This combined with above average temps. and few hunters in the woods made for some tough hunting! But, as you said, more importantly I got to spend some time with my Dad, which is what the outdoors and hunting is REALLY all about, friends and family spending time together.

Looking forward to late season archery season, although I will be carrying a video camera and not a bow, gonna film for my buddys, its a good time, we already have a few bow kills on tape.

For those who havent given up yet, best of luck, shoot straight!!

regards,

medic

I was holding out for something to put on the wall, so I didn't shoot a deer this year. My relatives did manage to fill most of our tags with 4 bucks and 3 does. Here is a pic of my cousin and his buck.

Today i went out in the afternoon after the big winds calmed down to nothing and while out there i see 7 deer coming my way @ ~ 60 yards. I just picked out the biggest doe and dropped her in her tracks. heart shot!! "one shot one kill"

Finally... it was a 142 pound field dressed 3 year old doe... A nice freezer filler.

Deer routinely walk right past my side door on my house. I saw my motion sensor light go off last night and there was 4 or 5 large deer standing there looking for dinner

Guess if I wanted, I could easily whip out the .308 Savage 12FVSS I've got and drop one...lol
