Arafat

I haven't seen it mentioned here, even did a search, but did everyone notice what country Arafat went to, to get his medical treatment. Just how many other connections for these guys are there.

It's all part of Bush's plan...

Send Arafat to France for treatment. He dies there. We blame France and can finally justify bombing the b@stards!

Sound good???

I don't think its any secret that the French would not be opposed to seeing the PLO and company kill or drive all the Jews out of Israel. Lets not forget it was European anti-Semitism that made Israel a necessity. Anyway, I don't think his going there for treatment was that unusual, he needed specialized care and France would be one of the closest and most advanced countries available. Personally I think the Palestinians might be better off without Arafat, he is usually one of the major obstacles to useful talks with the Israelis and he constantly usurps the Palestinians Prime Ministers b/c he can't share power.

You weren't paying attention.

No war.

Just bombs...lots of bombs.

I hate the French. Every last smelly, smokey, hairy, snooty one of them.

What I want to know is why all the secrecy about Arafat's specific condition?

Which is it?

1) He's a public man but deserves privacy during his final days

2) His illness is regarded as fatal, and his supporters have needed time to consolidate before the inevitable power struggle.

3) His illness may be AIDS, which could hurt Arafat's legacy in the fundamentalist Arab community.

4) Other

5) All of the above

I agree Tuff, I can't stand the French either and I guess that you need two to have a war. After the bombing I'm sure they would start grovelling and surrender almost immediately. That's what they usually do.

I think he is in worse shape than what they are admitting to. Just goes to show those people can't even be honest when someone's near death.

I was listening to some news reports early this morning. They are all over the board. One stated that he was already dead, another that he was in an irreversible coma, another said that he is recovering.

I have heard the coma story more...I am sticking with that one.

I mean, have they been supporting him. Financially or otherwise. Just like France was supporting Sadam for oil.

I have no sympathy for Arafat. He's caused more misery for his people than anything else. Every peace plan that has been created he has stood in the way of. All the while his people continue to pay the price, while he stayed safe in his palace!!!

It’s too bad someone didn’t take the opportunity to put a bullet between his flucking terrorist eyes…
