Haha, don't worry. I don't follow college football too much.

Only did a year at Mizzou but the name stuck with me.

The tech sector is difficult to get into for new graduates. Companies dont want a whole team of people, they want one guy to do everything cuz they cant afford to pay a team. Just one portion of the job market but its something that effects me and it wasnt a problem 4 years ago.

I think it'll be close, but Bush will win it. I don't think it will be over next Tuesday, though. Being the poor losers that the Dems are, they'll drag things out as long as possible with recounts and law suits in the states that are relly close. They might not cave until well into December. Look for the Clintons to be very 'vocal' about the results as Hillary gets ready for a four year campaign to run in '08. That scares me more than this election.

Uhhhhh... you do know that Bush isn't responsible for the .com burst and the tech blow up?! I'm ashamed to be in the same industry as you...

And they CAN afford teams of people, but after the Y2K fiasco, .com this and e-something that, and salaries rising uncontrollably... why would a company WANT to get back into that? Outsource, hire 1 big gun to do it all, or get some newbs out of school and barely pay 'em. Nowadays companies are actually LOOKING at the ROI on their IT infrastructure, not just throwing cash at a problem that really doesn't exsist.

i cant speak for detroit and you cant speak for chicago. Around here peoples jobs have been in jeopardy and many of the people i know have been laid off. Its an employers market right now and one position will see as many as 5k resumes for hourly wage helpdesk. It seems funny that a few months after bush was in office these people were fired, or it could just be an amazing coincidence. Im aware that the .com industry had its problems and bush had nothing to do with any of it. Oh yeah, dont be too ashamed, no one around here will hire me cuz i dont have any experience so im not in any industry at the moment.

These people that think the President (or any President) has any control over the price of gasoline, are fools. If Mr. Bush could control fuel prices, don't you think they would've come down before the election? Nothing but election year politics.

a record surplus to a record deficit. do you think BUSH had anything at all to do with that, or is that all on someone else?

Quit passing the buck, Bush has to take some responsibility for the state of affairs these days.

Already voted for Kerry here!

I saw a lot more layoffs in 1998 in the tech sector than I have in the last 4 years. I saw guys that were making great money at Applied Materials get laid off only to be replaced by 2 or even 3 noobs straight out of college. All of the replacement's salaries combined didn't equal the salary of the ones that were laid off. In the case of AMAT, and most other tech companies, it's not the fact they can't afford people, it's the fact that they have an extremely high profit and don't want to lose even 1/2 of 1% of that margin. Man I'm glad I got out of the semiconductor BS...

Skerry will do way more to kill jobs than any pres before him if his agenda stays on the path it has through out his career.

Skerry will kill jobs;

if he continues to push unachievable milleage standards

if he pushes his anti gun agenda

forces higher emissions on the energy companies

if he goes ahead with his min wage increase

if he taxes corperations for outsourcing

raise taxes on small business

There are some jobs he may create though, sure the # of trial lawyers will increase.

Bush has done nothing to kill jobs and has done everything possible create jobs just shy of forcing companies to hire, which he does not have the power to do..

And to stay on track here, both Weekly Reader and Schoolastics had an election pole and Bush wins by big #s. Listen to the children, they know what is goin on.
And both WR and Sch. have picked the winner since Eisenhower.

My daughters school held a mock election and W won there too.

Sled...

Thats funny cuz the NEA supports kerry. So you have the nations largest union supporting kerry but the children the teachers teach supporting bush. Ahh well, only one group there can vote so it doesnt really matter what some children think is best. Some kids still eat paste.
