b. The number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups) is 1,500.
c. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188.

Statistically, doctors are about 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

FACT: Not everyone has a gun but almost EVERYONE has a doctor.

Alert your friends to this threat. We must ban doctors before this gets out of hand.

As a public health measure, I have withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear that the shock could cause people to seek medical attention

Well, I'm kinda working now, and I wasn't on all day...

Having some e-mail server issues, on top of old software, old hardware and everything running at capacity preventing me from doing some data restores. Finally discovered some space (long story) and started a restore just in time to make bowling. Had a good night at the alleys only to find out my restore job blew, had to tweak a few more things and try again...

So I'm up until I get all my data back and can access it and make it useable for all the lemmings in the morning. What a cluster f**k.

That's really inspired As I recall the 2nd amendment was written into our consitution partly to make sure Americans had guns to protect themselves for further trouble from a certain usurped foreign power.

Yeah, you're right, let's keep this to something more acceptable rather than going political. It's just that over here in the UK, over 50% of us hate what our country has been dragged into under the Bush/Blair partnership.

I just find it very strange that you need to justify your need to have guns. What are you scared of?

We don't have the right, nor do we want it. Some drug guys have started doing drive by shootings and are killing kids. Our gun ownership here is low, but 64% is illegal and the guns are sourced from the US, Israel and the old Iron Curtain countries.

The problem with allowing gun ownership is that you cannot guarantee the kind of nut who can get hold of guns. I think you should have the right to own guns, if you need them, but perhaps you ought to just live with it and not advertise the fact that you have the right, you're going to attract all sorts of nutters.

Actually, it is not the legal guns here that are the problem, its the illegal ones (correct me if I'm wrong resident law enforcement people), which are coincidentaly the ones that are making there way into your country I would guess. Guns are something that are ingrained into our culture, just like alcohol, people here in the states get a little annoyed when the government wants to mess with your traditions (cough prohibition cough), especially if you own them legally and take great care to make sure they are safe. A lot of people here in the states enjoy hunting as well as target shooting, so guns are a popular form of recreation as well. Most "gun nuts" that I know would be more than happy to just enjoy their guns and not make a big deal of them except that the anti-gun nuts are usually the ones who stir things up in the first place.

 

Point taken fatman66. I just notice that a lot of threads talk about guns and one thread had people bragging about the size of guns - very strange. Over here we compare ****s and brag about them, normally a four incher takes the prize , mind you we are talking about European inches, not American inches!!

well there are theories about the relationship between the size of your member and the size and amount of guns you own (usually it is said that there is an inverse relationship)... but the studies havn't come to a definative conclusion yet.
