Think About This:
OK, just one last political point. Do you think that if the British send 600 scotsmen up to Baghdad to "releive" your guys, your Presdient will get re-elected?
With 136,000 American Troops in Iraq, why the need for 600 Scotsmen. Is it something to do with the facts that they wear kilts. Maybe the sight of 600 hairy ***** will scare the sh*te out of the terrorirsts?

Effects of Australia's Gun Ban
Summary of first-year results (1999):
Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent
Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)
In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. (Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not and criminals still possess their guns!)
Even a moron can see that an anti-gun position is a pro-crime position. Are you voting for politicians who want to help criminals hurt you?

The success of RTC laws -- Florida`s in particular -- was well known to legislators and the general public. According to the most recent data available from the FBI Uniform Crime Reports at the time of the VPC attack, states with RTC laws had significantly lower overall violent and firearm-related violent crime per capita rates than other states:
Violent crime rate -- 22% lower Robbery rate -- 36% lower
Firearm violent crime rate -- 29% lower Firearm robbery rate -- 38% lower
Homicide rate -- 31% lower Aggravated assault rate -- 14% lower
Firearm homicide rate -- 38% lower Firearm aggravated assault rate-- 19% lower
Handgun homicide rate -- 41% lower
Florida`s homicide and handgun homicide rates had dropped 22% and29% since adopting RTC in 1987, even as national rates had risen 15% and 50%. Anti-gun groups often try to malign Florida`s RTC law by noting that its total violent crime rate has increased since the law took effect, but an examination of violent crime data only supported RTC advocates` arguments -- since 1987, Florida`s violent crime rate had risen less (17.7%) than the U.S. as a whole (22.3%), and only 30% of Florida`s violent crimes involved firearms.

This is FUNNY…
You know what the problem is with those uneducated that support gun restrictions or complete bans on guns?
The never stop to think that criminals NEVER follow the law. A criminal can get an illegal gun because he doesn’t give a crap about any stupid law on the books, because, YOU GUESSED IT, he is a criminal…
Sometimes I really wonder about some people on God’s good earth, perhaps they were placed here strictly for our entertainment…

Based on the doctor / gun owner likeliness to cause death ratio, all this tell me is.....
I need to take a gun with me when I go to the doctor.
I have contemplated gun ownership since 1991, and never quite got around to buying one. The only time I ever feel like I need one is when I'm on the road. I've been 'effed' with a few times on the highway; nothing too serious, but- I would have felt much better had Smith & Wesson been riding shotgun (No pun intended).
I'm the most laid-back guy I know, but- certain things tick me off very quickly. All I can say is, it's a good thing I didn't own a gun in November 1993. I was involved in a hit & run. I was hit by a 70's era FORD F-150 the F-150 that had F O R D pressed into the metal, with the big steel bumpers on it. The impact rocked my parked little Chevy (My first car, my baby!).
So, I get out of the car, and I guess when 6'2", 240 of mad/possibly injured soldier gets out of their wrecked car- I guess it can be a little intimidating... I made eye contact with the three of them as they peered out the back glass. The next sound I heard was that of flowmasters, and the truck leaving in great haste. I lost it right then; the thought that they were leaving the scene. Now, I knew my 4-banger may have a hard time catching them, (And how would I make them stop anyway) but- if I'd had a gun that day; they would have stopped from the bullets flattening tires and shattering glass, because in that instant, I was angry enough, made enough, stupid enough to have taken that sort of action. Thank GOD I didn't have a gun because I'd have been in jail right now more than likely.
Upon walking to the other side of my car, I was amazed to see that my sheet-metal was undamaged, and only a side-marker light was broken, and some scratches in my plastic bumper.
I would have shot up their truck for what turned out to be $12.00 in damage.
So, with that in mind- at times I still think I need a gun for when I'm traveling (Like the time this car full of Mexican guys came after my wife and I, and the most dangerous thing in the car was my "Ice Cube" CD. But, for 99.999% of my travels, I've had no problems...
Some decisions can't be undone, and so with that 1993 memory of me losing my cool still fresh in my head, I don't think I'll be buying a gun anytime soon....
