Hemi Hemi Hemi!!!! Rated "R"

In the highly competitive car and truck world,I am growing tired of The Hemi's this, The Hemi's that. When are they going to build a real truck like the redesigned 2004 F150.We have a motor[s] to match the truck very nicely, thank-you and a body, to outmatch it's competition. The sum of it's parts are worth more than the whole.Just wait, you Mopar guys, what you started,ie. baby boomers with muscle cars ,Ford will be blowing the doors off of you before you can say" Hemi", real soon, I hope??.Get my drift,I think it's time for the Ford engine guys to recalibrate the engines to shut these Mopar Hemi Guys and Girls up!Sales would speak for themselves. Just look around and see how many Hemis go by everyday.Do you think they bought the truck for it's good looks and ability to do what a truck was designed to do?Not.Mark my words, in a couple of years, despite soaring gas prices, motors today and in the future will include more and more power, because that's what we want. You will have to pay for that power extra, since some guys would like to receive better than 14mpg.This self- expression was not meant to offend anyone, only to stimulate conversation, chew on this for a while...

I agree with you jcde. However I think ford already blows away Dodge in the quality and refinement department. As far as the engines? Its all in the tuning, I believe Ford engineers could have gotten around 340-350 HP out of our 3V 5.4 easily....however because of Ford's reputation, they wanted to go for reliability, long life, and BETTER fuel economy...some guys on here are pushing 19 MPG, i can guarantee the Hemi doesnt get much better than 10....whenver i see a hemi on the street next to me i just laugh to myself because I know that i have the better truck, he might even knwo it too.

I do wish ford would produce a truck strictly for entertainment...i.e. the Dodge srt 10....put a suped up v-10 3v into a lowered tricked out F150....pushing 500 HP...

I so can't stand the Dodge owners, funny thing is 3/4 of em trade their trucks in to us after 2-3 years cause their lovely trannies give out and don't wanna pay to fix em.

COFX4, I guess another thing with the hemi's are , how will this engine stand up, if it is to be driven daily in a truly hi- performance fashion? It's a Hemi, it's gotta be driven like a hemi, Right??? You gotta believe that John Coletti,Jack Roush and the rest of the "Go Fast" Ford Bad Boys will not sit for long on this one.Something's gotta give, and don,t expect the bow ties to sit on the fence either!Let the games begin!!!The 5.4 with or w/out mods is no slouch either and it's dependability with the 3V will show in due time. And with the improvements to the box, interior refinements, chassis, shocks etc. etc., we are already ahead of the competition,Ask Motor Trend, they'll tell you.

sadly though the HEMI is still a more powerful motor than Fords 5.4. once Ford comes out with a more powerful motor these threads about Dodges' HEMI being garbage will be worth the read.

Dodge has only one thing going for that truck, the engine, and from what I have heard the Titan can match it in acceleration and towing. Ford built a great truck around a solid engine. Dodge built a crappy truck around a big powerful engine. I also question the longevity of the HEMI vs. the 5.4. JMHO

Man, some of you guys crack me up.

First off, if you haven't actually owned a Dodge you don't know what you are talking about.

The Dodge is not the POS some here would like it to be.

I owned a Dodge that I traded in on my '04 FX4 and it was a very good truck. Never once did it let me down. It had 58K showing when I traded it in.

I bought the FX4 for some very basic reasons:

1) I liked the interior
2) I liked the ride
3) I liked the motor
4) I liked the way it looks

Get over the hemi thing. They are making some good HP and if HP numbers are something you are hung up on, then you should have bought one.

Personally, I agree with COFX4 that if Ford would have wanted the 5.4 3V to produce 350 HP, they could have. But, this is not a street racer boy truck. Its a motor designed for what a truck does: haul things and produce gobs of torque down low.

Comparing 1/4 mile times on pickups with tow packages is sort of like t__ts on bulls. Not much use.

(imo) this ford is fast enough. I have pletty of dodge and chevy owners asking me about my truck. As for who puts out what...it really doesn't matter. I'm happy with what i have done so far and i have a few more changes to do. As for who is going to beat me in power.....i just don't give a crap....I chose the whole package instead(imo)

I have an 04 F-150 and I aint worried about a HEMI. I'll take the challenge. I have taken the challenge and won.

Me vs. R/C S/B HEMI 4x2 w/ 3.55's. Hands down I won. No questions asked. Three times in a row.

If I am concerned about racing the hemi, I will go out and spend 10k on a used rice rocket and run circles around the Hemi. Who cares which one is faster. I prefer Ford...Chevy and Dodge are good trucks too. Ask most of the people who own them and they love there trucks. I have a friend with a 94 Dodge Ram and well over 100k miles on it. The thing is built like a tank and has had very few problems. The only truck I really have a problem with is the Titan...It is ugly..but the people who buy them love them...They same the same crap about our trucks on their board.

Ultimately !!!! Who really cares?
