What mods do you have? My best friend/cuz has a Hemi Quad Cab 4-Wheel drive, and it can smoke my Screw FX4 up and down the street. The only production (Excluding Lighting, SRT-10) truck that can take down a Hemi Ram is a Titan or SS Silverado.

Everyone has an opinion

What I am saying is, look at the number of" views "of this topic, obviously it has stirred up some attention, provocative as it may be.It does not appear like this is the first time this topic has crossed Blue Oval's minds and it won't be the last..Get it off your chest, it's good to hear opinions from both sides, the,"I coudn't care less" to the 'Let's kick some serious B-tt'.What amazes me is the interest in alot of us that are never content with stock performance, we are always out there searching for ways to increase this, and that, for a hefty price, some more than others to gain what?Listen to the pride in our members when they say they can hardly wait to receive their new Cat back exhaust,or a performance based computer programmer, or an Air intake kit etc.I for one lie on this side of the fence, because I can..Cheers to both sides of the Fence

Put a Supercharger on your 5.4 and watch the Hemi owners cry.

He had only magnaflow exhaust. He now has though air raid intake and a superchip tuner that is on the way.

Pending all the planets are aligned, the RC SWB 5.4's will/can run a low 15, right in dodge territory.

As FATHERFORD mentioned, I had the following at the time of race.

Regular Cab Short Bed 4x2
5.4L 3.73 LS diff
Magnaflow exhaust

Yes, his Dodge will smoke your FX4, it is beyond heavy. The R/C S/B HEMI's are a dime a dozen so everyone compares them to a loaded heavy extended cab F-150.

Even the guys on DTW have seen first hand a R/C S/B F-150 running low 15s at the track. With my intake installed I am running even better. Tuesday the tuner will be here and I will see how good that does.

I have never owned a Dodge truck so I cant say how well built they are. Some of my friends have them, some good experiences and some bad.

I personally, will always buy ford. I am just comforatbel with them. This is my second ford truck and not have any major problems with either of them. Ford builds trucks to satisfy the masses. Most of the trucks are sold to businesses as fleet trucks. I doubt that a construction company will purchase 200 dodge HEMI trucks over Fords Triton, they are gas pigs.

For all of you worried about the 345hp 375 lbs. of torque. Remember that it is mostly a marketing ploy. To get that 345hp you have to be using 89 octane and running the engine redlined. Just take a look for yourself at the power bands for each engine. At 1000 rpms, the Trition puts out more hp and torque than the HEMI.

Yes, and remember they make only 10 more ft lbs of TQ than we do. A QC 4x4 HEMI is in the 16's in the 1/4 mile. A 4x4 Lariat is also in the 16's in the 1/4.

i have been a long time member of this site. i had a 98 excab flare side with a 4.2 i bought the truck because of the looks. the motor sucked but i liked the truck. well 2 yrs ago i smashed it a week before thanksgiving and it didnt hold up to much i hit a parked van in a white out snow storm and bent the frame twisted the cab so bad that the doors didnt shut right hell even the tailgate was off by an inch. the master cyl was pushed down below the valve cover. because of fords new frames they fixed it by cutting it down the middle and the cut it between the cab and box but would only give me a 6 mth warrenty. well i love my fords but i dont like the new ford trucks to me they just look to boxy like the 87 to 91 years. since i work for damn liar chryslers i bought a new dodge. i bought it on the spot without taking it for a drive and i havnt regret it since i love my truck its not a hemi but i didnt buy it for that i liked the looks and i dont care if it gets beet by a go kart i have 2 mustangs that can and will do all the trash talking for me. what im saying is who cares who is faster the person baught it because they thought it looked good. yes im still a ford man with in 2 mths i will have a new mustang but i still love my DODGE.

I agree with you. But some of us are speed freaks and we bought our trucks for speed.

I special ordered my truck just so I could modify it. I love the idea of making a 5000lb truck stomp a Camaro and then pull into Lowes to pickup a load of plywood. Plus, I HATE cars. I always have. I just dont like them. Too constricted IMO.

I have owned a 01 dakota for +3 years, and owned a Ford ranger for 1 year. By far the dakota was better than the ranger, but when I decided to buy a full size truck I decided to go with the f150. Only thing that made up my mind was the "lexus" feel of the truck and the quality ford is know for. I took me a while and several test drives of the Ram and F150. My purchased was between the loaded 4x4 Lariat (beige interior) or the black ram HEMI sport. I have to tell you it was a very hard decision. But I am more happy than I ever thought, I would have been unhappy had I gone with the Ram.

If you wanted a lexus feeling truck you might have been more inclined to buy a Tundra - clearly the Lexus of trucks in it's limited configuration.

Secondly, While we have all heard the horror stories regarding Dodge trannies I honestly think from the various boards I visit that Dodge has really worked on their reliability and now have much better results. The current gen of Ram's in all honesty seem to be holding up better from the owners I know and talk to. Mind you I guess/hope all trucks are holding up better now a days. They still don't hold a candle to imports such as the Tundra yet but the Hemi appears good so far.

So... All biases aside (we all know we like Ford), which engine responds to mods better?

Gas pigs? I have a neighbor that gets 20mpg with a 2003 Dodge QC 2wd Hemi on the highway. Sounds just like some F-150's.

Peak horsepower always is near redline for any engine. Both the 5.4L Triton and 5.7L Hemi put out over 325ft-lb of torque from 1500rpm to 5000rpm. 1000rpm? Who cares as no automatic will let you reach that power in any gear besides first. But both motors are similar.

Ford is coming out with a new 6.2L Hurricane engine that will provide the power some people want. Dodge will have the 6.1L Hemi with similar power to compete.

The insecure peopel realyl need to get over themselves. The Hemi and Endurance have more power and another transmission gear. Ford has never been on top of the motor game, yet it is still the best selling truck. There are more qualities than the drivetrain (as long as it is reliable) that should be and are considered when chosing a vehicle. If you are happy with your truck, great! If you are worried about the Hemi, buy one of those.
