My WAG would be higher than 16.5
You say you are going to mod it.
If I was going to mod it, before I did anything I'd take it to the track and get a benchmark.

Do a mod, go to the track.
Do a mod, go to the track, etc...

Mods cost time and money.
I would want to know down to the hundreths of a second how much performance I bought/built at each point.

That said, I have never modded mine.
She's an old dog now but, back in the day when she was young and frisky I took her to the track several times, always stock.

Best time was 15.714 @ 85.21

My truck is a shortbed regular cab 4x2 w/5.4L. and weighs a mere 4200 lbs empty.
I guess 16.5+ for your's because:
Supecab weighs more.
4x4 weighs more.

4x4 = Tall Brick
4x2 = Not So Tall Brick

Hi FordBuff and welcome.

My truck is same as yours:
2002 F-150 Supercab XLT
4 Wheeld Drive
3.55 LS rear end

Last summer my wife and I were camping in Prince Edward Island, Canada.
The bed was full of camping gear, and covered up with my ARE LS2 fiberglass hard lid, and the back seat was full of stuff also, you know what it's like when you're camping?

I just filled up the gas tank at a nearby ESSO, and I always fill it until I can't get another drop in the tank.
As soon as I left the gas station, I turned right, and I saw a stock car mounted on a pole about 40 feet in the air.
When I went and checked it out, it turned out to be the dragstrip at Oyster Bed Bridge.
Low and behold, it was race night and I finally had my chance.

I paid my $20 bucks, dumped my wife off at the sidelines with a foldout chair, and got into the line to race.

I've never raced before, didn't have a clue what to do (still don't), how to stage, so I'm sure with some know-how and experience I would improve my time.

My truck has the Diablosport chip, Gibson Supertruck exhaust, and AirForce1 FIPK.

My first run I did a 16.844 at around 79. something an hour, and my 2nd run I did a 16.800 at around 80.xx Mph.

I was hoping with the mods to get low 16's, but like I said, maybe the extra weight, the hard lid and full tank of fuel slowed me down, as well as my inexperience.

I've read trucks without any mods (same config as mine) run around 16.8, so I was disappointed and thought my mod money was a waste.

I don't know really.

Perhaps the mods helped, but if I knew how to drag race properly, I would more than likely squeeze a better time out.

Regards
Habibi

I wish I could test and tune, but winter is upon us and track is closed and I donot want to wait til spring to mod, I can't stand how slow this truck feels, I may go insane, thanks for the warm welcome Habibi, nice looking truck you have there, so it safe to say 16.5's all day stock, so any guesses on catback exhaust, superchip tuner, cai, underdrive pullies? all at the same time and just hitting the track this spring, 14's possible? I am shooting for consistant 14 sec 4x4, I would have keep the Lightning but kid coming soon and no room in an L, I like the harley but no 4wd? I wish ford would supercharge a 4x4 or awd.

I feel the same way.
14's without a blower? I'm going out on a limb here and say "impossible"

However, I don't know much about anything!

Habibi,

When you say bad times what were you 60 foot times? To get a good ¼ mile time you would want your 60 foot time 2.0 seconds or below. If you had wheel spin off the line then I would bet your 60 foot times are 2.3 seconds or greater. If that is the case your ¼ time will reflect that.

For best ¼ mile time you want to stage shallow, in other words when you pull up to the tree you want to just barely turn the second staging light on. If you do this your 60 foot time won’t be great but you will get a much better ¼ time and mph. If you want your best 60 foot time then you want to stage deep, in other words where after you turn the second staging light on you keep going until it is flickering from being turned off because you will be past the beam. If you do turn the second staging light off just put it in reverse with your foot on the brake and slowly and gently roll back until the light just turns on.

In your situation you are looking for your best ¼ mile time and mph so stage shallow and don’t go through the water box. Try to do a power burnout with your foot on the brake and only go until the tires just start to smoke and then pull up to the staging.

It does make a big difference if you have experience or not. You can take one Lightning, stock with a really good driver with experience and in good weather get a good 13.3 – 13.5 second ¼ mile time. You can take that very same truck with someone who has never dragged raced before or very little and get a 13.9 – 14.0 plus ¼ mile time.

Don’t feel bad bro about spending your money on mods and not getting what you thought you got. I feel very confident you got what you paid for and improved your trucks performance it’s just a matter of practice to get a good time…

Habibi,

As a side note, I believe, but not positive, that every 200lbs will cost you approx. a tenth in the 1/4 mile.

You want at least 1/3 tank of fuel so you don't starve the fuel pump. Your cover and full tank may have cost you a good 3 - 4 tenths, but that is a guess...

Btw,

Congrats on the 13's Neal.
I can't wait to see what you'll do when you install a supercharger.
It's gonna be a scary ride.

Right on man.

HI!... HABIBI : Well I hav'nt hit the 13's yet as far as I know. I hav'nt been to the dragstrip in about 2 years. Trying to get ther for the weekend of OCT 23/24 if my stall converter comes in time from P.I. I ordered a 2800 stall STALLION converter. I just destroyed my bullitproof? DAYCO race converter 2 weeks ago. That will make 3 TQ's now that I have ballooned in this truck in 5 years. Now I'm going with the BEST. Also got some 18 x 9.5 LIGHTNING rims for the rear wrapped in NITTO EXTREME DRAGS 305/45/R-18's . Let's just say traction isn't a problem.

As for a SC , I've given up on that. My built (400H.P N/A) 5.4 engine is about half way done and I'm going to bolt on a T-76gts single turbo kit running about 14 PSI. Should be good for about 600RWH.P at least.
