I know its nice and rewarding to do your own oil change and you say your such a cheap A$$, but with all the running around your doing looking for the oil, all the stress and agrevation your putting yourself through, wouldnt it be easier to just take it to the nearest Ford place and have them do it? I can go to one and without an appointment be in and out in no more than 45 minutes, but most times its 30 min. Hand them $25 and im out the door, new oil and filter, no stress, no running around town and a smile on my face.

Just a thought

I change mine in less than 10 minutes, it's still around 25 bucks for Mobil 1 and a filter, but I don't have to go anywhere, I do it on my time, and I know it's done and done right.

Why even wait for the motorcraft? Texaco/Havoline is the same exact oil.

BTW. I don't think BREWDUDE has seen the Miller High Life commercial on oil changes. "A man shouldn't change his oil with a credit card." LMAO.

Frank S...your right, I have no idea what your talking about with the miller commercial.

My point was and still is,,is that if you have gotten to the point where you feel the need to post a thread on how pissed off you are because EVERY time you go to buy oil, you cant find it, or they only have a few left or whatever the case may be, your totally agrevated every time you do an oil change and you have to run around town trying to find the supplies you need, well then I dont think its worth it. At that point I would rather take it to the dealer and just have it done. Quick in and out and no hassle.

Now by all means, if the oil and filter are readily available and you can just run to the store and pick it up AND you have a place to dispose of the old oil, then have at it. Grab a few cold ones and change away.

Wal-Mart is one of the greatest stores on the planet, and these problems arise only because they hire morons to run those departments. I had almost the same trouble as you getting oil for my F-250 Powerstroke. I was going to buy Shell Rotella T and needed four one gallon jugs. I checked one day and they had the filter but the shelf was empty of Rotella. This was also the unfortunate time in my life through my high school years that I happened to work at that very same store. I was in another department but my next day at work I took it upon myself to check into the oil that had been out for days now. I scanned it with my handy dandy Telzon to order more when I noticed it said we had a large quantity on hand. I went in the back and found a whole pallet of FIFTEEN CASES of that oil! Nearly a weeks worth of sales missed because some inbred didn't bother to fill that shelf (or probably just didn't care). Who knows how long that shelf would have been empty.
All is well now. My Stroker has fresh oil, I'm self employed, and I told them to take that job and shove it.

Boy your bad...As you know he saved 3.00 for getting rid of the waste oil and Wal-Mart gets the gravel in the lot firmed up free...

And being cheap is now the in thing...

Zoltan...I feel your pain. Here in Ohio, I shop at Meijer more than Wally World, and that's where I like to buy the Purolator premium oil filters for my truck...and most of the time that slot is empty. They must have over a hundred different filter numbers there, I bet they have one for a 1913 Pungs-Finch, but the one for the Ford mod motors is usually out. I've told em about it but it doesn't seem to help. They ought to have more than one row of that number, cause there's a lot of mod motors out there.

BTW, I use Valvoline 5w20 in the winter and 5w30 in the summer. I usually get it at Autozone, buy they sell Fram filters. When I use a Fram, there's a little engine noise at start-up...not so with the purolator.

I gotta go with Brew on this one. I always changed my oil myself but now with this truck and the amount of oil it holds, the time it takes (even if its 10 minutes), the time to go to the store, and the problem of disposing it (not allowed to dig a hole anymore), its just as easy to go to Ford and let them change it for 19.99. As long as you dont go at 12pm Saturday, you are in and out. But I guess if you have special requests as to what oil to use and the time and place to do it yourself...get er done.
