Death to the dog...

Ok, so the little lady & I head up north for a weekend. Upon our return, we walk in the phone to discover my Grandfather clock has a small problem. Now, take a good look at the pic. My pooch is the only one home. Very trustworthy nieghbors let her out few times a day and inspect the place each time. My buddy just let her out Sunday morning but didn't walk the house and notice it. His wife checked things out the night prior. So it happened between 9PM Sat and 10AM Sun.

Now, no toys around, no ball, no blood, dog is not hurt... so WTF happened?! I'm getting security cameras... It's a THICK tempered glass door.. not exactly 'easy' to break.

$360 for a new door (they only had two left in the warehouse, they don't make the clock anymore). Plus another $80 for shipping. There goes my Westin Bull Bar... Friggen' dog...

No bullet holes (even in the Mo-town ghetto house). No break-in. Nothing else outta place. Only other possiblity is the nieghbors did it. But like I said, very trustworthy folks I've known for years.

EDIT: The 80 pound suspect:

Great, you blurred the picture of the wife Where's the fun in that?

Dog or no dog, you got what was coming to you. Maybe she got tired of the damned thing making so much noise! I blame fatman66.

Okay here's my perception of what happened. You have a very powerful dog and i am thinking he saw his reflexion in the glass (bored) and attacked it and shattered the glass. Its tempered glass so a good smack with his mouth and a tooth may have made contact or maybe a claw that would do it. Or maybe he was pi$$ed you left him alone and he just whipped something at it just to get back at you 2.

Hard to believe the dog was the only one that had something to do with it...

Yupper Buckdropper, that's what I figured. She is a powerful pooch. Its odd since she's been left alone before like this. Plus, she NEVER freeks out at her reflection. Must have been getting cabin fever that morning. She had to do it with her snout, as I mentioned I couldn't find any toys/*****/bones at the scene of the crime.

Tuff - the clock is on silent (I can't take the chimes every 15 minutes). The large pic is one of my parents, may they rest in peace. The pic of the wifey-to-be and I was too small anyway, but I didn't want to take any chances..

I'd shave the dog and search for shards of glass somewhere on the flesh or in the hair.
Last time I did that I found tiny pieces of glass in my hair for days, even after a shower or two. (you don't want to know how I did it.)

Mine tore a 3" hole in my carpet today and ate the padding beneath the carpet.

Yep, that's right... my 1 year old house now needs new carpeting because of my forking dog. Even better, I'm on a biz trip right now in Washington State (Montana tomorrow) and I'm having to deal with this crap from a distance.

Will homeowner's insurance cover something like this?

Does your dog have anything like one of those knoted ropes, it kind of looks like a bone. My idiot dog liked to take hers and grab one end and shake it around. I thought she'd knock herself out but never did. She did lose her balance and fall over a few times though. The reason I ask is she also would accidentally hit the coffee table/couch/me with it. I'm sure if she hit glass it would break.
