Ha, thanks for reminding me, I did forget ole' Ferret Face. (Too much of Cliff Claven's buffalo theory at work on my brain.)

30 kids that's all? Try being a Drill Sergeant in a Basic Combat Training Unit. I had an average of 64 Privates (sometimes up to 256), 15-18 hrs. a day, 6-7 days a week, for at least 2 years. I wish I only had to train 30+!

Since I gotta explain it, it isn't funny. Privates refers to your antaomy as well as the lower rank in the Army.

30 kids = 60 parents, most of which think little johnny is Gods gift.

when they pi$$ you off or screw up you cant make them drop and give you ten or run their a$$ in the ground.
next time a private gets out of line, send a note home to his parent, schedual a meeting and see how that works for you.

the PTA alone would drive you insane.

You are generalizing... many little johnnies parents don't care about lil johnny and that is why they come to class dirty with old cloths and not having eaten since yesterday's school meal. At least that is the story here in Wendell NC. I am not saying all parents are like that, but there are parents that really could care less...

Still does not come close to the responsibilities of a BCT Drill Sergeant.

Until you make that one false step, then they're all over you like flies on *****. Some of the most worthless parents we have been forced to deal with are the most vocal when they think there's something to gain for them. All of a sudden they become morally outraged.

lil Johnny

Again, I can only go by my wife's school, and it would seem in the case of the kids she works with, you are not supposed to otherwise touch a child yet these kids regularly get washed by the teachers and no one says a word.

Last school year I was all too happy to have the teacher call me and tell me that jr. was being a turd. That's the problem too many teachers go to school and alienate the parents who do care, then complain that the parents won't do anything. Well call me let me know and I'll be sure to jerk a knot in jr's little butt. Oh yeah, I thought it was kind of funny when we told the teacher jr was getting counseling and possibly medication all of a sudden he was very well behaved in class. Sounds like she's the local drug pusher if you ask me.

While on the topic of the kids having too much energy. My kid doesn't get recess. So the kids don't have any time to blow off any extra energy. No wonder they sit in class and wiggle and bounce off the walls. I can't stand sitting in class now for a whole day with out a long lunch. How can a little kid do it?

This school year is too soon to tell, but the teacher seems to fill us in more than the one last year.

If we can't equalize kids by teaching methods, at least we can drug them into conformity.

I agree, an informed parent is a happy parent, keep those lines of communication open. You might hate to hear the bad news, but you'd really hate to let it get by time after time and not be able to try to modify the behavior from the home side. Some teachers are better than others, but I've never know a teacher to discipline a student for no reason. The child almost always initiates the action whether we as parents realize it or not. Remember they are trained adults, they ain't there to start something that is going to influence their class atmosphere negatively for the rest of the year.
