I don't care what foreigners think of Americans.
And Yes I travel and yes i have a passport.
Oh Dear, Oh dear.
So sad.....so very sad !
You really impress upon me the total futility of trying to have reasonable discussions in these forums.
Just as one feels there is some good dialogue with people like
J-150, and 01 XLT Sport, along you come and wreck it all !
Have a nice life.

When I was in the Navy and stationed on an aircraft carrier out of Japan, I got to visit many places, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, and a few others I can’t think of off the top of my head.
Usually the first visit I basically stuck close to town, the local area where the majority of other shipmates where hanging out at. For the most part they were nice areas and the people generally nice.
However, on the second and many other visits I got out of the main hang outs, or local military hang out areas and into the country a bit and in just about every country is was like the difference of night and day.
You really do not know a country or its people until you get out and move around. Usually for the average person, or in my case, someone that was usually only in a country for 5 – 10 days its not much time to get out and soak it in, but you really can’t judge a country from a very few places or very few people.
It’s the same in America. You listen to our news that is mostly slanted to the left and you would think the vast majority of Americans are homeless, stupid and going hungry. Then if you visit some of the big cities you might think most Americans are rude based on a few locals that live in the big cities.
The best time I had was a few years ago when my daughter and I went to California to visit my parents. We drove from New Hampshire and took interstate 40 most the way so we went through approx. 8 – 10 states, maybe more, and from state to state it’s a big difference, not just in scenery, but in the way people speak and act. It was really amazing to see the difference from one town to another town some 200 miles away…
I really enjoyed that trip driving the whole way and would like to do it again. It really makes you appreciate this country more.
The point is I am sure I would find the same types of differences of people and towns in just about any country if I was able to travel some 3,300 miles as I did from New Hampshire to California…

Yes....just outside Stafford.
School grounds were split in two by the Shropshire Union Canal, and the Staffs and Worcester is close by as well.
Did you know that there are more canals around here than in Venice and now canals are being reopened and regenerated faster than they were built in the industrial revolution !?

*Sometimes I even surprise myself after a few beers on a Friday afternoon!*
Oh, and I do love Corvettes dearly, with a special place for the Z06's.

Ah, but what a waste of articulation if this humble colonial didn't do his best to keep contact with one who so wisely sees the benefits of both sides of the pond.

I do get a little despondent sometimes with the blinkered approach of a few who seem to think their views are of interest to us, but then there are the bright spots !!

I hope that made sense...it's late in the evening here and I'm off to bed......in the knowledge that in a couple of hours the cat will wake me up by finding it's way in and depositing a live mouse or similar on my bed.
He seems to think I appreciate it as some sort of gift !
