Here Kitty Kitty

Folks, I am in trouble, or in luck, however you look at it. My wife is bringing home a kitten today.

I am NOT a cat person. I have always been a dog kind of guy. The last time I even had a cat I think I was like 4 yrs old or sumthin.

Anyway, I am going to try not to torment it too much

But I want to know if there is anyone here who can give a cat newbie a few tips. We have never done this before, so any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks

Ox

Keep the wife happy = keep 01 XLT Bush away.

Otherwise, not much to it. Water on the left, food on the right, and keep the litter pan in the same spot and clean.

BTW, here's my furball...

and here's what she says to dogs and dog lovers...

Why don't you like cats? With the right marinade they can taste great! Slow cooking is the key for tenderness. You should pick up a copy of "100 Ways To Wok Your Cat".

ALRIGHT:

I didnt like cats either until my wife and I got our two cats. It doesn't take much to get attached. Cats are very loveable, trainable, and loyal animals. You just have to start YOUNG.

I know how you feel right now, lets us know how it goes in about 6 months, you'll see what I mean. I was in your shoes 2 years ago. It only took me 6 months to get attached to mine. I treat them like they were my sons. NO *****.

I had dogs all my life until about 97. The dog I had then I had to put down. Wanted another dog but where I live at that time did not allow you to get a new one. Went to the pound and got a 1 year old cat. I can honestly say it was not a mistake. Put out food , water, litter box and scartch post. He found all of those that night and have never had a problem with him clawing anything but his stuff, no messes other than if he gets sick (a lot less mess than the dog whe he was sick). And I don't have to get up and take him out at 5 in the morning (Especially if you partied the night before).
Also just as affectionate as any dog I had.

Cats are cool. Get it fixed, get them declawed if it's going to stay inside. When you want too take off for a long weekend just fill up the food and water and clean the chit box. Cat's have funnier the hell attitudes. I'm a dog lover myself but, I like the wife's cat it kind of grew on me......

get it declawed the last 2 my wife has owed were the one before that wasn't and liked to sleep under teh covers at the time I slept nude. Let's just say its not a good combination. The laast two have been cool one would ply fecth woth rubber bands and both put my dog in her place. It's kinda funny to watch a 100 lbs Rottweiler being chased by a 5 lbs cat.

And if it don't work out just remember "cat the other white meat"

Keep in mind...

If you have the cat De-clawwed...make sure it is a 100% INDOOR cat.

When a cat is de-clawwed, the vet actually cuts the tips of the cats "toes/fingers" off so the claws dont grow back.

Very cruel procedure if you ask me

Graphic pictures at this site BTW.

That's disturbing...a little too 'real' for a Friday!

I am a dog lover through and through. When I was a kid, we had a cat named Yogi. He lived to be 19 years old. He would always sleep inside the house right by the French doors. He would sleep in the sun that came through the glass. It was kinda funny, he'd get up and move as the shadow got closer to him.

I can remember as a kid laying down with my head on him as a pillow, he loved it. GREAT PET.

I don't think I'll ever get a cat though. I think I was spoiled by him.

Yogi did. I am sure that just like anything, you get out what you put in. I have known some people that have awful cats. Then again I know people that have awful dogs.

I think cats are definately easier. They are more independant too. I think the right cat for the right person can make a good pet. They are fun though! You can grab them by the tail and swing them around, throw them WAAAAAY up into the air just to prove they always land on their feet...uh, so I've heard.

Cats are good pets if you're a cat person. They will grow on you.
