Ok, I am on the phone with Dell

Ordering a new computer. What should I get? I am thinking that I want a laptop. Is Dell worth anything?

Laptops rule. Get one and go wireless. First off, what's your budget?

Dell is a solid PC, some will have horror stories but you'll get that with any PC maker.

I believe that consumer reports usually likes Dell the best of the PCs. I've got one, had it for almost a year and its a lot less trouble than my iMac (AKA wretched evil blue lump of crap) at work.

I got the 5150. I don't know Jack about computers, but this guy was pretty cool. He didn't try to sell me on the high end one. I told him I wanted to spend about $1500, and my grand total was $1584.00. It'll be here in about a week and 1/2.

Now I can cruise this board at home and work!

You got ripped off... HA! Kidding... congrats on your new time-wasting device! I've been in front of my for most of the 11-hour work day... and about 90% of that time was spend right here...

Extended support?! Did you get the silicon sealant package as well?! What about the high-speed fan bearings w/ liquid CPU cooling to keep your PC cool and quiet? I don't even know who you are anymore...

I would have gone longer if it wasn't another hundred bucks! If this thing so much as blinks when I turn it on in 2 years, I am packin it up and sending it to them.

They did offer me Dell-Dex, he said it's like Windex, but made by Dell especially for their computer screens. It's $457.00 for a 2 ounce bottle. I got two. He said it's awesome!

THat is correct, but you can't take any more than a 3-hour dump 'cuz that battery guzzlin' P4 processor you got is going to EAT the battery alive...

tsk tsk tssk.... why didn't you consult the master first (that's me).

It will be fast system, you'll enjoy it. The downside to the perfomance will be battery life. Just don't be away from an outlet too long (ie, 3 hours) and you'll be fine. Don't mind me, I'm just the pickiest ***** f'er when it comes to electronics. I'm such a geek. When you own enough PC power to launch a space shuttle, you've got issues...

I got the 5150 back in Jan with the 3.06 Ghz, the wireless gizmo, and all the other stuff that Tuff Ford has.

First time I tried it in a WI-FI zone,m it worked perfectly.
I turned it on in the Frankfurt Airport, and was able to see all the flight schedules and the airport website, it was very cool to see it work like that.

Regards
