I worked Support for an ISP back in the Internet Explorer Ver 1.0 days... A LONG time ago....

Now I am a Systems Analyst for a company that USED to be on Nasdaq and do Technical Consulting in the side.

I wouldnt worry about turning off the Wireless.
But if you were worried - you could turn it off in the Router using the Web interface. But like I said before MOST customers wont mess with a working network - Once its working they just leave it alone so they dont have to mess with it.

What I would do is turn off SSID broadcasts, turn on WEP and if you only have 1 wireless PC and the router will do it try using MAC address filtering. Those 3 things will make your wireless more secure than 99.9 % of them in the world. You should be able to look up what the terms mean and how to set them up in the documentation for the router.
