There's a million questions that need answering first. How much property are you talking about covering? Flower beds and grass? What's your water supply? New construction, or an existing yard?

What part of Georgia do you live in?

I did an 8 zone system (.25 acre lot) about 6 years ago for around $500. Basically, the timer/controller will run between $50-75 (1). Each valve will run about $10-15 (8-9). Sprinker heads range from $1 - $15 each (one about every 10' for head to head coverage). 10' SCH 40 1/2" PVC pipe will run about $1 - $2 each (lots of it). Assorted elbows, T's, connectors and such is what probalby costs the most..... Sure, individually they only run .10 each, but you need hundreds of them!!

I also rented a ditch witch for the day ($150), but saved a ton of time.

Plan it all out first, make a diagram of it, know where you are going to tap into the water line. Check to see if you need to get a permit. You should also have the utility company come out and mark all of your power, water, sewer lines and such.....

Good luck!
