dodge ram and my failed pride with ford...

Here I am, owner of a 2002 f-150 4x4Sc with a 5.4 Truck will soon be going back to ford, as my Lease will be complete, and I'm not sorry to let it go.

I have followed posting's here pertaining to the f-150 and I have voiced concerns I have had with my own truck.

Today I went truck shopping, I swore I would never drive a dodge ram, Considerd a Silverodo, Even drove a new f-150

So, I drove a 2003 Ram 2500 Rc, 8 ft box, 5.7 hemi, that's been arround for a while on a dodge dealer's lot, Thier eager to move this truck, So I put the first 75km on this truck.

It is so far above my 2002 f-150 ( accept that it's not a 4wd) it's got me thinking abought buying it....

I can Honestly say to you the 5.7 is not the monster it claims to be, but it out performened my 5.4 that is only good at sucking gas, and no I'm not expecting the 5.7 to be a Honda civic.

The Lightning crowd still will be king, no fear thier.

So, If this truck enter's my drive way, I whish all you f-150 owners best of luck, Ford still has a slim chance here, but $ for $ I found a truck that is not a ford.

I don't know why you would even consider a Dodge unless your either.

A: A good mechanic that loves to tinker

B: Know a good mechanic that doesn't mind helping you fix things.

C: Have so much money it doesn't bother you to leave it at the dealership.

D: All of the above

In all seriousness my Brother in law has a Dodge Ram with only about 70k miles on it. In the last 6 months he has had to have the IAC replaced, starter replaced, and it leaks oil. I think that is just a little too much for a truck with so few miles on it.

Oh and the 5.7 compared to the 5.4 is a gas drinking beast if there ever was. So although 5.7 may actually have a very small amount more power it doesn't justify all the extra gas the thing uses. There are guys on here that can get up to 22 MPG with the 5.4 and with the 5.7 will be lucky if you get 12 MPG. But do what you want to do it's your money.

I personally like the new F150 but also would get the Chevy, GMC, Toyota or Nissan over the Dodge. Maybe they have gotten better since the Daimler-Benz buy out but I am not sure.

over 41 posts and every single one of them has "my 2002 sux" worked in somehow.

we get it already. you got a lemon. now sell it and buy a Ram already.
I'm so sick about hearing how much you think Ford screwed you.

Every friggin' post.

Cripes. Get over it.

And drop by in a year or so to bitch how that is a lemon too!

i drove a HEMI for the first time last week at work. One of the water dept.'s new utiliity bed trucks is a 2wd 3/4 HEMI. Wow was i dissapointed. I do belive its quicker than a stock 5.4 but this thing sucked *** at hauling anything. We hooked up to a Ditch Witch (weight unknown but its heavy) and i did not feel that the Hemi was anything special with or without a load. I think our (gas dept.'s) 1 ton 4x4 Ford with the 5.4 will out pull the Hemi all day and its in a much bigger truck. It's funny how almost every new(er) truck that the city buys as a work truck is a Ford. They've sold most of the chevys and dodges, new or old, and are starting to buy Fords. Also alot of guys are starting to buy Fords as their personal truck. When i left there last August to go back to school, there was 1 guy that owned a SCREW there. Now there are 8. 3 of those 8 traded in newer chevy trucks, 2 traded in newer Dodge trucks (one was a Hemi) and the other 3 had other pos cars. Eight supercrews is an awesome sight.

Dodge Ram and my Failed pride with ford......

I'm healed... I'm moved on and bought the dodge ram and I'm so happy...Yes my ford was a lemon, I bought the f-150 that you could have bought, So in the end, my grief saved you, Hope you are all happy with your trucks.

But I can say this, if you are loyal to any brand, and your last purchass of that brand was the worst thing ever conceaved wearing a blue oval, or blue bow tie, or even a ram, you would not be loyal to that brand... and you to would be a little P--off

So, I bought what I wanted, just as you all have, and if this ram is unworthy, Chryslers warrenty will cover me for 7 years, or 115000Km..... Ford... 3 years 60,000 km, and the verry least the dodge boy's have more faith in their product than ford,

Yes the 2004 F1-50 is one heck of a truck but I can't spend $$$ to maintain loyality.

I whish all you Ford owners best of luck, I have now left the flock and I willing to accept that this Dodge Ram may also have problems, But that's a chance I'm taking....

Please! If you ate at a restaraunt for five years and then got one bad meal, would you call it a bad restaraunt? I sure hope not! I've had Ford's since 1984, and every one has treated me well. If the next one I buy is the biggest lemon on the planet, the vehicle after it will be another Ford. Do you really think any manufacturer of any product never produces a bad unit? Take your sour grapes to Dodge and have a nice life.

I can't blame you for having a bad taste in your mouth. I swore off Chrysler products after owning an 87 LeBaron. I loved the car but hated the problems. After swearing off Chrysler, I let my girlfriend (now wife) buy a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Not too long after the purchase the headaches came back. Tranny problems, electrical problems, even fuel tank problems which took multiple trips to the dealer. Last week she traded it in on a Ford, and I'm swearing off Chrysler products again, unless it's a Viper or a Mercedes. Hopefully M-B will maintain high quality standards. I wish you luck, and hope that the tranny and rear-end gremlins don't show up for you.

BTW, did Ford make it right for you and buy back the truck? If so, I wouldn't complain too much.

I know someone who just took a trip from Detroit to TN and got 20mpg with a 2003 Ram 1500 2WD quad cab Hemi. They can get just as good or bad mileage as we do.

The 45RFE is a significantly better transmission than the ones mated to the 5.2 and 5.9L.
