Cool Are you worried about Oil leaks?

Just flew back from Alaska to Houston and for the first time in a long while, I asked for a window seat.
I thought this would be an ideal chance to get a few Happy Snaps.

Anyhoo, this was my view of the engine from the window.
When I queried this, I was told, "They all leak like that Sir"

Hmmmmm.

EA,

If I flew that airline again I'd make a special point in looking at the engines before it left the ground. Leaking oil is NEVER a good thing unless it's crude and it's leaking out of ground you own.

Uhhhmmmm... BS!!! Get me off this plane you blonde air mattress!

I'm no airline tech, but that can't be a good thing. I've never seen anything like it.

What leak??? I see 10. There is a big leak on the engine nacelle and a bunch of small leaks around the flaps. The leaks on the flaps are no big deal. It is more than likely just excess greese that was left on the actuators. BUT that big streak that is on the nacelle does not look normal. Small streaks, dirt, exhaust grime no big deal. Either the last tech that worked on the engine was messy and left a lot of excess oil, or that engine has an oil leak. The good thing is that most all modern aircraft engines have very detailed monitoring systems and would throw a fault code alerting the flight crew to the situation long before the engine shelled itself. Good info to know but seeing oil leak from the engines of the aircraft you are on is never a good thing.

Aw- just top it off at the next stop with a little Coastal 20w-50 (no need to get expensive here) and keep flying.

Don't you love getting on a plane that looks more beat up that the old tractor that they pull the luggage carts with?
