Question Fair asking price?

My buddy is looking at buying a 1998 F-150 xlt stepside reg.cab 4x4. Its got a 4.6/auto/3.55 rear with 105,000. It's in good shape with a few dings/scratches from normal use. Its also got a full bedliner. It runs and drives great, however the check engine light is on, but i drove it home for him from the used car dealer and it has a slight hesitation at 1/2-3/4 throttle. Im thinking the O2 sensor(s) are bad. Seems to be a common problem.
The used car dealer is his neighbor and we both know him well. He's asking 10,500 for it. In my opinion, the truck isnt worth over 9,000, but thats my $.02. Any thoughts?

my buddy's got a 98 Sebring with every available option. Its a really nice car with 91,000 miles. Im thinking it books between 4-6k. If it were me, id say my absolute highest price on the F-150 would be 8,500.

If it's a drop in bed liner, I would also pull it out a take a look at the bed. It could be hiding a lot of problems.
I also think it is way too high.

If it helps as a comparison, I bought an XLT 97 F150 longbed reg. cab with the 4.6/auto/4x4 with only 41,000 miles on it last August and paid $9,500.
I'd say $10,500 for a truck with 100,000+ miles is way too much.

I paid 10,500 for my truck back in august. It had 96k miles on it at the time.
The sticker was actually 10.9, but we got them to knock off $500 because the cargo lights would stay on even though all the doors were closed (fixed with WD-40 )

I'd say that truck would be worth 8,500-9000max.

Also, since the CEL is on, I think you should be able to get more knocked off...

I picked up my rusty *** 86 w/ working 4x4 for $225. So far it has cost me around $300 in parts or so and a bunch of time. Still need to fix the balljoints and a front u-joint.

I would not pay it.

Very high. I had $11k for my 1995 in 99' and it had 56K miles. Either I got a hell of a deal at the car dealership or your friend is looking to pay way to much. I think I'd lean to the latter. $7500. Check out ebay for comparisons.
