A long road ahead...sad....
A long road ahead...sad....
My GF of 10 years and the mother of our 8 year old became quite ill several weeks ago and then almost bedridden with back pain 2 weeks ago. Due to her strength of will and "hard-headedness", she didn't see a doc til this week......
Preliminary test indicated... and a flurry of detail tests of all types have indicated breast cancer that has spread to her liver which has caused her sick feelings, and also her bones, specifically the lower spine which has caused extreme back pain and significantly hindered her mobility........ Reports have indicated an advanced and aggressive cancer. She's 43, never smoked or drank and has always been very healthy, having only been to the doctor during her pregnancy. She has always been a picture of health so this is a shocking turn of events.
Having been admitted to the hospital on Tuesday, by Thursday (yesterday), radiation treatments began to make an attempt of arresting the spine cancer which has already "destroyed" two bones and is in danger of reaching her spinal cord. That has become the primary focus. Chemo is to commence today and surgery will have to wait since they could not wait on a surgery to heal....
To look at her lying there in her hospital bed, she still appears the picture of health and is the most chipper one in the room..... but with the start of the treatments, her meddle will be tested.....
Fortunately, I am self employed, and have been able to postpone my activities or call in outside help in order for myself to be with her. Heck, I couldn't provide any quality service to someone anyway! I'm a wreck but am trying to be strong and take the lead in her personal care. She has a large family (she's the baby) and they are all crazy as loons, and sometimes I've just had to put my foot down on some things.
I simply ask that my friends here at F150 offer up a prayer for Gail and our family. Our faith in God is our mainstay and we look to HIM for comfort.....

Donny,
I'm not much of a praying man, but I just said one for Gail, your child and you. Maybe my unfamiliar voice will get His attention. I will say a few more over the coming weeks.
Our best to you all.

best wishes to you in this trying time.
Cancer is so unfair. It takes out young, healthy people that do not deserve to be sick.
In all of this you have to do 1 thing.... be strong for your child. Your child will have trouble looking at their mother weakened from chemo.

Donny,
I know what you are going through.
My wife had surgery for Breast Cancer last week. Unfortunately, it has spread to her Lymph Nodes so she will be starting Chemotherapy next week when her surgery has healed.
It's an 18 week course and then she has radiotherapy.
The specialist says thet her chance of survival is 60/40 so there is some hope.
She is 44 and always been healthy till now too.
I wasn't going to mention this on the board but seeing as you have the same problems, I thought I would to show that you are not alone.
If you want to email me on adamgreen57@hotmail.com and discuss what you are going through at anytime, please feel free to do so.

im sorry to hear about this ive had a similar experience my best friends mother pretty much my second mom was diagnosed with breast cancer over a year ago. your gf sounds a lot like this lady, the whole time she was going through her treatment she was the most up beat person if i was in that situation i would probly sit around feeling sorry for myself . you Gail and your child will be in my thoughts her attitude towards this will help herself and all of you that love her more than anythign
Best wishes to you, Gail and your child. I dealt with a similar situation a couple years ago with my Mom. Be strong for your family, but lean on your friends for support whenever you need to.
Stay positive and keep thinking ahead.
You and your family will be in my prayers.
