Im 6"3 and 225.. I own a 1999 Honda CBR954RR right now... Previous to it i had a 2001 Suzuki GSXR 600.. I felt right at home on the Gixxer, but bought the 954 cause my buddy bought one and i fell in love with it.. Its very nimble for such a large bike.. The gixxer is a good bike for us big people cause they're much wider like the big SS bikes (900) and up..... My buddy larry has a 2004 cbr600f4 and i dont feel all that comfy on it.. the windscreen is very low and it feels like its "cab forward" cause of my height... Go sit on a few GSXR's and 900CBR's or step up to the plate and go 954RR... :-) Hope this helps!!
re
what do i need to look for on these bikes? anything real important. i need something kinda comfortable, for the trips to the lake and what not, thanks for the help so far guys
Cousin owns a Honda VFR 700. I like the feel and I am 6'2" 200lbs. Believe it is an 86 or 87.
I am saving up for a Ducati Monster either the older 750 or a newer 800.
I see them going for around 5k to 7k in decent shape.

Never owned any of the other types so don't have much else to suggest but if you want some speed, check out the gsxr. Nice big seat and easy to throw around with all the power you can handle. I really liked my 750 but the 1000 was sick! Gobs of power!
R1's are also very nice bikes.

R1 will definatly teach you throttle control... The 954 that i own is very comparable in almost every aspect..... The 954 is a little more "forgiving" on the throttle then the R1 but the above mentioned is correct.. R1 is also a great bike to look at, just dont make it your first..
I had one. It got kind of old fast. I had a 600. It was really fun, but I kind of got tired of it fast. I dont think I'll be getting another one any time soon. Good luck with yours.

My brother just bought a 1992 1200cc Harley Sportster. That thing has got some power. Half throttle through 1st,2nd,and 3rd and it is already doing 70 mph! It seemed very comfortable to me. I'm 5'11, 280 lbs. But it sits kinda low.
hey poter, just in time. i have an '01 triumph sprint s/t. the bike is listed as a sport tourer and is very comfortable for long hauls. i have ridden it to tenn and nc from wis.
i was just thinking of placing an ad for it. it has 11,800 mi and i am asking $5200 OBO

ME!! ME!! I GOT ONE!!
I bought it two days ago and I will pick it up today. I bought a slightly used 2003 Sportster 883 Harley Davidson. 2,000 miles on it. Black and Chrome! I will post pix after the weekend.
It's my first bike and I paid $6,470 after tag/tax/title. I have been at work for 2 hours and I feel like I have been here since the thaw of 1971.

hey poter:
the bike is a Triumph (British) Sprint S/T, powered by a 955 cc three cylinder engine, it has approx. 11,700 mi on it, new Avon tires (roughly 1000 mi on them), fresh oil,(synthetic), 6 speed transmission, 107 bhp, 450 lbs, also has a tinted windshield and i'm pretty sure i still have the stock clear one. other wise the bike is all stock. she also comes with a maintainance manual from triumph, dowco cover, triumph tank bag,
she won't run with r1's or gixers but they aren't nearly as comfortable. as far as handling, i've owned and ridden quite a few rockets and the handling of this bike is very impressive, not as "quick" steering but never unstable feeling either. she makes you feel very comfortable and "planted" whether going through slower tight turns or high speed twisties.
i've run her through the gap and the cherholla parkway and was very happy with the ride.
the triumph is very comparable to the honda vfr, the biggest difference being that you won't see a triumph on every corner. every time you stop somebody comes up and talks to you about the bike.
the reason i'm selling it is because my son is getting a little older now and doesn't want to ride as much anymore. he prefers to ride four wheelers so he can drive. so for now i'm going to stop riding bikes, i think, until he gets a lilttle older and can ride beside me instead of with me.
