Killed my 10th F150
Killed my 10th F150
I took down my 10th F150 today. It was one of the new 2004 F150s. He got me off the line but by the time I hit 30 we were bumber to bumper, when I hit 50 I had him by half a truck length. At the second set of lights I managed to get him from the start and had no problem showing him my taillights!
And your life is so exciting this was a highlight?

This is typical of red-light racing.
You race the same truck twice and have two completely different results. The winners of red-light racing are the ones willing to keep their foot in it harder and longer than the other guy and that's it.
Save yourself a lot of grief. Go to a quarter mile track and run your truck. Then you'll know what it can and can't do.
I don't think a stock 4.7L Tundra will have a faster 1/4 time than my truck but, if it does I'd like to know.
If you have some modifications on the the truck, list those along with your time. That would be interesting information also.
The fact that the Ford driver finally came to his senses after the second traffic light isn't as interesting.

I do have a job, I am a geophysicist for an oilfield services company in Houston.
I do volunteer as well. My father, who passed away last year at the age of 61 had early onset alzheimers and was unable to do anything for himself. My mother had to put him in a nursing home. I visited there everyday to feed him and other patients. I still do a year later. I also ride in the MS150 every year as well. I know I don't do enough but I do try and help out where I can.

Hi Raoul,
I really don't have much in the way of mods. I have JBA headers, a Spintech Sportsman XL muffler and a K&N drop in filter. Otherwise she is stock. I am not sure if your truck would be faster than mine or not, if you have the big V8 with a lot of mods you probably are quicker. I would like to get it out to the track sometime, I think that is a great idea. The mod I really want is the SC.
As for the guy in the Ford, he signalled me he wanted to go at the second set of lights and at the third set of lights gave me the ok sign and I gave him back a thumbs up. He had a sweet looking F150. I really like the new body style.

That was optimum weather conditions at sea level, don't know if those variables could be duplicated in Houston.
oops, forgot I changed my sig:
2wd regular cab styleside, 5.4L
(weighs 4200 lbs without me)

That is a pretty quick time. I don't think my Tundra is going to be able to match that. I read somewhere that a stock Tundra V8 would run in the 16s around 83mph.
Re: Re: Killed my 10th F150
Momalle1,
I am on the forum because I am thinking about getting an F150. If you read one of my responses to Raoul or Serrota I said I liked the new 2004 body style. So I am on here to read up on what the experts on here have to say about there experiences with the new F150. I have not even had the chance to ride in one yet.
I don't think I am an *******. I respect and appreciate everyones opinions and did not mean to upset anyone on this forum. I apologize.
I am not trying to prove my Toyota is better. I don't think it is. I think every truck, be it a Tundra, F150, Ram, Silverado... are all good trucks that have some positive and negatives. Some features may be what someone is looking for and not for another.
As for counting the number of times I have been killed. I have been killed a couple of times by a Lightening. Which I happen to think is a very sweet truck.
Again sorry if I offended anyone. That was not my intention.

Why is a Toyota guy a member of a Ford forum? Why would you post such a thing unless you are just an A%$(hole? Are you trying to prove your Toyota is better? Why don't you come and race some F150's in 15 years when your Toyota is rusting away in a bone yard? Do you also have a count for all the F150's and Rangers that have "killed" you?

Your story does not compute and here is why:
2001 Toyota Tundra 4.7l V-8
HP = 245
TQ = 315
Curb weight = 4518
You have –
18.4 lbs per 1 HP
14.3 lbs per 1 ftpd TQ
2004 Ford F-150 5.4l V-8
HP = 300
TQ = 335
Curb weight = 4890
They have –
16.3 lbs per 1 HP
14.6 lbs per 1 ftpd TQ
Therefore either your BS’ing everyone or the F-150 driver is MUCH smarter then you and just not racing, or racing hard.
In any case both truck are just about equal in weight vs. HP and TQ therefore in the ¼ mile it would be pretty close and most likely decided by the better driver…
Have a good day…

I am not BS'ing you and I don't think he is any smarter than I am, but you are assuming he had the 5.4L V-8. He may have had the smaller V-8 which would be the 4.6L V8, closer to my 4.7.

I will say I've looked in the 2004 Forum for someone who has taken that truck to the track and the Search turned up nothing. In those threads that were close to that topic, the indication was if I mentioned taking a 2004 to the track, I would be looked at like I had my underwear on my head.
The new 5.4L has more umph but, the F150 gained alot of weight and there is the 'drive by wire' issue.
I would be curious to know if bottom line is a plus or a minus.
Also, I have heard of sub 16 second Tundras in stock trim but, they were just barely under 16. I figured extra cabspace weight was the difference because you needed a extacab to get the V8 from Toyota.
If I was going a mod a vehicle I would want a baseline before I started to determine how many tenths 'X' amount of dollars bought.
It's a fair Subject for General Discussion but. like I said before, a track time would be more informative.
(Of course if you do post that Thread Subject you have to be willing to take your lumps)
hint:
Approach F150 number 11 from behind and observe the differential.
Round differential = 4.6L (or possibly 4.2L)
Egg shaped differential = 5.4L
