The new 5.4L has more umph but, the F150 gained alot of weight and there is the 'drive by wire' issue.
I would be curious to know if bottom line is a plus or a minus.

Also, I have heard of sub 16 second Tundras in stock trim but, they were just barely under 16. I figured extra cabspace weight was the difference because you needed a extacab to get the V8 from Toyota.

If I was going a mod a vehicle I would want a baseline before I started to determine how many tenths 'X' amount of dollars bought.

It's a fair Subject for General Discussion but. like I said before, a track time would be more informative.
(Of course if you do post that Thread Subject you have to be willing to take your lumps)

I do volunteer as well. My father, who passed away last year at the age of 61 had early onset alzheimers and was unable to do anything for himself. My mother had to put him in a nursing home. I visited there everyday to feed him and other patients. I still do a year later. I also ride in the MS150 every year as well. I know I don't do enough but I do try and help out where I can.
From your opening post and this one it appears you are quite the Jeykll and Hyde. I stand partially corrected!

Remember with an auto you will have slower 1/4 miles times due to more drive train losses. Manual is typically 15% losses and auto is typically 20% losses. Not saying those are factually numbers and right on the money for F-150, just typical.

Also as LGJ mentioned rear end gears will play a lot into it as well as far as 1/4 mile times. 3.08 suck, 3.55 beter, 3.83 great and so on. The higher the gear (to a point) the better the 1/4 mile time but worse for top speed...

Funny thing about some (not all truck owners) is that they measure there trucks by racing them I bought my truck and have started moding it to make it perform better, but not to race it, to use it as a truck. I have not had a truck since I was a kid in high school and at that time others who owned trucks measured there trucks by being able to haul, tow, or pull more than the other. I dont care if I my truck will beat another in a race, guess why I will leave that to the L boys. It's funny but read through alot of the theards and people in 4x4 full size trucks are measruing there trucks on if they can win in a 1/4 race.

Sorry my two cents worth

id believe Raoul's stock time. My green truck in my sig ran a 17.15@82 and a 17.2x @ 82.xx and i had 3 guys with me, a full tank of gas, toolbox (+/- 100 lbs) and i spun slightly off the line, (which is expected) We used his 400 dollar top of the line G-Tech.
I wont mention what the rwhp of a 220hp 4.6 is though

LOL, I'm glad somebody believes me because I want you to know I'm losing a lot of sleep with concern that someone may not.

After years of this and other truck sites and the wild red-light kill stories, I wondered if my truck was actually normal.

For my own info and to provide something factual to others I and several other Online members went with Mike Troyer to the track in Dinwiddie Va during the first Online Rally.

It was July and it was hot.
The best Lightning time was around 13.5
I had a 16.1
Andthensometoo had the longest time as I recall because she took off on the Green, changed her mind, backed up, and took off again.

I have been back a half dozen times since then with the same stock truck and taken 4/10s off just due to weather conditions alone. (Oct)

I have seen Raouls time slips. He is telling the truth. I'm a bit jelous. The day that I was down that way he was running consistant mid 15's and all I could muster was low 15's. And Raoul, there wasn't perfect conditions the last time I was down there. It was hot as he!!, and so humid we could have almost drown. You got a good truck there!

You know masuda_72, if your thinking about an F150, especially a new one, You may not be getting a truck that will beat every other pick-up on the road. What you would get is a truck that operates consistantly with varing loads and conditions. I don't think Ford is all that interested in the hype that things like the "Hemi" are causing. I personally wish they would offer more power but if we want a Ford race truck we have to go for the Lightning, or mod.

That 4.7 Toyota motor is a nice one. DOHC should make the acceleration nice and crisp. They have the exhaust tuned nicely. I haven't road in or driven one but I would guess it's a nice truck. A truck that perhaps is capable of out running my truck were it stock. Fortunately it's not stock any more, even though it still looks like it is, for the most part. Yes, it's a quick pick-up that can also do a fine job of moving the stuff I need moved.

So, power to you. Just remeber that Ford isn't as interested in fast as they are in power to move.

Ford trucks.

I got a ford truck myself because I have seen these trucks last thru everything. Most of my friends have trucks, But only one has a 90 F-150 350+K Miles no major maintance (Original Motor and Tranny) and still runs like a champ, Although no line racer, And that is not with light use. Most of my friends with toyotas and even some chevys have gone thru 3 trucks in the time that that F150 has lasted. You want to have fun, Find parts in a Junkyard for your F150, This is the only downfall, Most the parts I buy I have to buy new.

Oh yeah, And people who like to race off the line, I know I wont beat you, However I love to provoke you. I sit there and REV my truck (Very loud exhaust). And laugh like hell as I watch you floor it to the point of almost wrecking (One even did once.) while I slowly take off with the knowledge that when you car or truck is in the Junkyard mine will still be driving around. So if you see me, dont try to race me, Because I may not be faster, But I more than likely can put my vehicle thru alot more hell than you can.
