Unhappy Can plastic be sanded?

Putting together a die cast L.

Can't fit the windscreen into the roof properly. The rear window snaps in fine, but there is an excess portion on the windscreen which doesn't allow it to firmly fit (and not look crappy).

The top (well, bottom of the windscreen) beyond the black trim is what is making this such a big ordeal. I tried to sand it off but with no luck.

And if you look at the bottom in this pic, you can see it sort of, 'sticking out,' whereas it should just fit right in:

If the little protrutions where the plastic snapped into place were slightly adjusted, then the 'excess portion' would not be a problem. They are fine where they are now, for the rear window, but not this.

I'm just trying to shave that part off. Might try a file... as in, nail file?

if your wife/GF has an emory board, try that. You want a very fine abrasive. Go slow and let the abrasive do the work. If you go fast and heat up the plastic you will gum up the emory board/sandpaper.

Stereotype

Thanks for the suggestions though. I took a nail file and slimmed it down some, and it seems to be fitting better. Not sure if I have an emory board... What exactly is it? I am a girl and I don't know. I hope I can do this without breaking everything!

An emory board is one of those things that looks like a popsicle stick, but has a "sandpaper" surface on both sides.

Sanding made easy By Cody

Well, hold the windshield firmly in your left hand and walk outside. Now that you are outside reach to the ground with your right hand. This is where it is trickey, if you want to really shave some plastic off scoop up larger sand, for less plastic off, use finer sand. Have you made you decision as to wich sand to use??? Good. Now with your right hand throw the sand as hard as you can at the windshield that is still in your left hand. Congradulations you have offically sanded your windshield.

Shes cute, likes ford trucks AND is into die casts!! Girl of my dreams, what more could I want??

Well I FINALLY got the SOB in there!! Had THE hardest time removing the windscreen wiper strip. Now the windscreen is kinda scratchy. I'm not sure if the sanding did anything, but oh well :santa:
