on a lighter note...
so this really has some of you guys scratching your heads? I thought everybody would know right away. I bought this truck off a lot, but the guy that traded it in was a friend of a friend. I don't think there is an alarm, and the key fobs are factory, and I wouldn't know how to check for remote start. Any other ideas? Now I'm really curious! There is a cable that looks like it could be a coax that leads away from it under the headliner.
also, I was playing around behind the glove box today (opened up all the way) and noticed what looked like a coax with a threaded endpiece that was shoved up back in there. I took it out and the end wasn't connected to anything. It looked like it went up the A-pillar on the passenger side, (and I guess it could be leading to this mystery antennae, but I couldn't be sure)

Cell antennae? I didn't know those were still used. I can't really see it being a CB antennae - it is 100% inside the cab, it would have gotten pretty bad reception. And anyway - there aren't any unused holes anywhere in the dash/or under it that I could find. Do you think whatever it was hooked up to just sat on the passenger seat and the cable stuck out of the glove box all the time?
Well, there would have been a second part to it that would have been attached with double sided adheasive to the outside of the window. It would have been an antenna about 10 inches tall. There are so many cell phone holders that do not screw down, they clip on to the vents and such.
If it is a through-glass cell antenna, is that how those things work? actually send a signal through the glass? Is the other side mounted directly on top of this one and the signal is beamed through? I always thought there was drilling and actual contact involved - but typing that I realize how ignorant I must be!
Well, I guess the mystery is solved. Thanks everybody! Now that i know what it is - can anybody think of a use for the thing? My cell works well wherever I go, could I hook up a decent through-glass CB antenna to this thing?
