Vacation
I've been there at least once every year for the past 9yrs. I was there last May & Aug. I'm going this April for Easter week. We are staying at Disneys Beach Club Villas. It's supposed to be one of the best places to stay. It's within walking distance of Epcot's Worldshowcase & The Boardwalk Pavillion. Last year we stayed at Disneys Old Key West. It was too far away from everything. In May we stayed off property at Orange Lake Country Club. It was very roomy. 2br, 2 ba. We traded our timeshare week for that stay. However, you can find great deals on ebay or in the classified section of the Timeshare Owners Group website. click here . Staying on Disney property is much better than off. You can stay from $100.00 a night at any of the Allstar Resorts. To $500.00+ a night at The Grand Floridian. Beach Club Villas Are Around $300.00 a night.
July is a very hot & humid month for down there. We we're there 2yrs ago in July. We had to leave the parks by 11am to go hit the pool. So you may want to consider that. Check out www.mousesavers.com you might find some deals there. You can even rent a new single family home with a screened in pool for around $120.00 a night.
Good luck,
Ron

Hmm, Disney World in July...
I would suggest staying INSIDE AN AIR CONDITIONED ROOM!! It can be hot as a crotch in the parks that time of year.
My Wife and I have done WDW several times and have always prefered to stay in resorts "on property" because of the convenience and availability of free transportation, restaurants, snacks, all within walking distance. It's great to be able to wake up, walk to the snack bar at the hotel and pick up coffee and muffins (or rice krispie treats when we stayed at hotels near the Boardwalk) while she gets ready for the day.
We've stayed at their higher priced (Yacht Club and Beach Club) and the moderately priced (Port Orleans and Dixie Landings) and I can honestly say that "Port" has been my favorite. For the most part, a room is a room. You are paying for each resort's respective amenities and walking distance to the parks.
If you only plan to go to WDW (and not Sea World, Universal, etc.), this may also negate the need (and cost) for a rental car. WDW has rooms starting at around $100/night now, I think. (All-Star Resorts)

Yep, being since I've lived around WDW for 7+ years now, July sucks. It's doable but make sure you ALWAYS have 2 bottles of water on you. My first time there was in August and I thought I was gonna die waiting an hour OUTSIDE in lines to get into the rides/shows.
This is where Islands of Adventure and Busch Gardens is really cool. You get hot, you go on a water ride and get soaked. Then you go do something else.
Disney doesn't have much of that.
So, my advice. WEAR SHORTS! and a white T-shirt. Get a hat and sunglasses. Pack plenty of water, there are fountains around to refill it with. You can buy bottled water at like $3 a bottle. When we do the parks we bring a stroller with a cooler in the bottom. Eat good before you go in and snack while you're there if you want to save some dough.
As far as where to stay, well, never needed to worry about it. My parents have a timeshare, so they never worry either when they come down.
Have fun though. If you've never been it's pretty cool.
