Man, you are in for it...... a kitchen remodel can run into thousands, just according to what your wanting of course. I do kitchen and whole house remodels in my area and they can be quite challenging.......... especially when the wife is involved and "wants this or wants that" with no idea what it actually takes to achieve that end result.
I suggest you make a VERY detailed plan regarding your desired end result and overlay that to your existing and try to figure what plumbing and electrical must be done and then get an idea of what has to be done to access those two areas.......

Our Kitchen remodels usually include knocking out walls and extending kitchens into other areas and adding islands and such......... a LOT of plumbing and electrical rerouting and changing and that's where a lot of money will go...... Cabinet cost will be all over the place and can be quite expensive. I did a Kitchen last year that the cabs were in the 40k range and another kitch the same size that the cabs were around 15k.....

i can imagine. we are just getting the cabs resurfaced and new countertops. we already have the floors redone. thanks dor the info though.

 

Call your nieghbor Rock Pick...He'll remodle your kitchen by eating everything in it

 

if thats all you are doing, do it yourself. Take the countertop measurement and have them custom made by a countertop maker (easy to find in the yellow pages)

And the cabinet resurfacing? Just buy new doors.

Its a lot easier than you think.
