TexasSteve... you're dead on man. The politics involved in environmental work is unbelieveable. Not to mention any job that you work on has a tight budget to the point that you have to 'buy' jobs sometimes.

Thus far, we've been very successful and we've been lucky. Remediations are out there but, there's only so much soil and groundwater to be cleaned...

I'd love to be a plant manager of sorts. I think I have the people skills necessary to do such a task but, that's not the type of job that you walk right into.... honestly, I'd love to get on an environmental management team within a LARGE factory or something like that...

Ahh, maybe I need to reinsert the pacifier and buckle down. Everyone gets in an occasional rut and I think I'm in the middle of mine...

I am and have been a shift supervisor for over 15 years. It has its ups and downs and most of it is the sacrifice that has to be made to "get the job done" and out the door on time with no quality issues. I just finished a 14 day span working 12 hrs. a day and man i was *** whipped. I started at this place in 89 for 5.00 dollars an hour as a temp. position while i looked for better pay. Went and got my CDL while working here and things progressed and the company grew and i was lucky and grew with them. Well now we have been through 3 companys whom have bought us out over the years and i am still here!. I like the job but do not love it. The drive here is 51 miles each way and can be stressful at times. Well now i am doing well and my pay has me over 24.00 an hour so i cannot complain much. But man if i could be a pro fisherman, guide i then would be a happy and content camper.
Just some food for thought while the employees go home the supervisor gets to stay.....

How about BurgerPick? Heard there's going to be an opening soon at LGJ's place.

If you like your field, but not the work, you could always teach, or train employees, etc. Same field, but something different...

You said you could relocate. How about Canada. Then you would need a 4x4 Superduty for sure!
