Best Flashlight

I need a great, not good, flashlight guys... Anyone have any recommendations? I currently use a 3D Mag lite and it's just not that great when I see pocket lights out there brighter. I need something with somewhat of a pencil beam like the Mag's, but more uuumph. I need to light something up with a beam anywhere from 50-70 feet away and see it good. I was looking at Sure Fire lights but don't know if they throw as direct of a beam as the Mag's. Any other good lights out there for around $100 or less. Thanks.

Surefire is a great brand, I also have a Pelican M6 Lithium Tactical illuminator which I really like, they're a lot cheaper than surefire, but also a little bigger, you can pick them up for probably $50 shipped...

The Pelicans come with a lifetime warranty agaist everything except batteries and bulbs.. never had a problem with mine.

Surefire is also very good brand, the only thing I do not like about them is the beam is non adjustable, but it's factory aimed to a straight beam.. Good luck!

best bet is to go to a camping/hiking/outdoor store. They have all of the brightest, compact lights LED's and stuff)

Cabela's might be a good place to start. In Canada we have mountain Equipment Co_op.

All of these place have websites so have a look.

If I'm not mistaken, the LED lights aren't what he was looking for... The LED's tend to have a bright bean. but not concentrated spolightable like the Lithium Zeon lights are...

My vote is the Pelican SuperSabreLite... in the $20 something range. They take 3 C cell and size wise they are very close to a std 2D cell flashlight but much brighter. Battery life is around 4.5 hours on alkalines.

I have a couple of these lights and love them for the fact that they have a bright pencil beam. They work very well when you're trying to see something down in a recess when the ambient light is high.

As for being waterproof, mine has been down to 50 ft (2.5 atm) 3 times freeing up stuck anchors on the boat when I was diving.

LeisurePro sells a lot a scuba equipment so you should find something there.

Streamlight Stinger. I have 2 Stingers, 1 SL20x and 1 SL20xp

go to www.galls.com (police supply) , they have a good selection of lights there

The battery in my SL20X lasted 6 years.

I use a maglight rechargable, I love the thing. You just need to keep extra bulbs with you as they are sensitave (roughly $6 each)

The Maglite rechargeables are pretty bright, but The Streamlights IMO are better.

VERY tough. I have one that is about 10 years old and have not ever even changed the bulb (just one battery), and I dropped it from the top of a ladder hitting the concrete steps at my house while burning and it didnt even flicker.

Also they have lifetime warranty on the switches (also acts as the charger contacts) so you can go to a local cop shop type store, and they will replace it for you if you need it.

I have been a civilian employee of a police dept for 19 years, and all the cops use either Streamlight or Surefire, with the majority using Streamlights

OK, I broke down and bought the Sure Fire and all I can say is HOLY FRIGGIN COW. I bough the 8AX rechargable with 110 lumens...this thing puts a 4D Mag to shame like no body's business, oh, and at 1/4 the size and weight. I think it's just under 8" long and 1 1/4" diameter (body) and around 10 oz's., and yes, I'll admit, 3X's the cost. But if you use a flashlight for a living, definately worth it. Unbelievable light from this thing. I also bought an E2e executive pocket light that's even smaller and still supposed to be brighter than a Mag D light. It was on back order but I can't wait to get it.
